Firstly big thanks to Mark for letting me abuse him again. It was fun. That's all I'm saying
Oh and helping me bleed the brakes, swap the pads, rotate the wheels and fit my new Terrafirma shocks. No complaints from SWMBO on the ride quality being worse, she says it feels much better now.

This was the first trip that Rommel has made out of 5 that has had NO issues at all. Hooray! I did buy a brand new NOS fusebox and uprated the alternator output before the trip.

Went on a work trip to Coventry and the old hot start issue is now starting so time to fit the hot start kit.
Filled up at Caen both ways and it worked out at £1.26 per litre thanks to the exchange rate :D

I think I have a hot start kit in the garage pm me.;)

Hot start kit is a bodge, re-time the FIP, that sorts it.

It is indeed. But I have learned the hard way, only one VOR on the drive at any one time or my life isn't worth living :D Re-timing is in the queue Keith - weather dependant for us driveway mechanics :)
I have a easy way of re-ting the FIP that is more accurate then using a DTI.

Yes. With hotstart I can cycle pump & glows as much as I want. In 2019 we decided best to disconnect the hotstart and it didn’t work. Had to put it back on.

As I said, running the pump can be done with a diode in the fuse box. Re-timing the FIP fixes the hot start problem

All the hot start does is insert a resistance in the EDC coolant temperature sensor circuit to fool the EDC into thinking the engine is cold. This enriches the mixture and more importantly reduces the modulation bringing it back from a stretched chain 80% to about 40/50%. The glows on causes the pump to run which might help a bit but basically doesn't have a lot to do with it.

The glows also help it start hit if the chains are stretched. Part of the problem is the relatively high engine speed expected for a running engine when hot. All the little factors add up to hard to start.

Chain stretch will affect later cars just not as much.

Sorry, glows do nothing in a hot engine.
