Simon, I'll take them at 40mm ta. I can't find a viable alternative at 30mm so will just have to get my thinking hammer out when I fit them :p
 
I wouldn't be confident of the strength of threaded rod. Problem I've got is lining the plates up, then getting the bolts in once welded together, as I can't do both, even with tacking the plates together then taking the clamp bolts out to put the bolts in, the bolts are 32mm long but the gap to fit them in is 20mm
Welder to welder, how about a set of smaller holes say m6 clearance on the same pitch at a different angle to hold them together while you weld, that way you can weld the bolts in place before putting top and bottom together

Only just seen this post, sorry, there isn't the space to get extra holes in anywhere without interfering with the welds, was something I looked at but couldn't find enough positions to keep the plates held securely and allow me enough space to get the welds in and see what I'm doing!

Had considered external clamping methods too, but, that would make lining the plates up difficult. I like the consistency that my current method produces, not to mention how quick it is to put the 2 halves together.
 
Hi Simon. I'm sorry, but I'll have to pass on your offer to get the 40mm lift instead of the 30mm kit. Since mine is a van it already has 1 inch (almost) lifted springs in the back, so I think it'll be way too much, and also, I really don't want to cut the wings in the front. Hope it's okay! :(
 
Thanks Simon! Maybe to allow for more compression when loaded, as opposed to having harder springs in standard length / ride height? I don't know, I was told by the local LR shop that vans (at least Freelanders in Denmark, dont know if it's common) have these longer springs in the back.
 
Haha... Maybe they had a good laugh in the shop on my behalf :) Maybe they are aftermarket ones... I don't know..
 
I am a new member/owner of a FL TD4 how would I know if the FL as already got the lift kit or not, and if not what would I gain from having this lift kit please Arctic2
 
Ok boys and girls, kits are going to platers end of the week, so will be ready for dispatch probably middle of next week, they usually take 3-4 days to turn them round.



You'd need to see what the ride height is like compared to standard, or take a strut off and see if there's anything on top... You'd gain some ground clearance, ideal if you want to take it off road.
 
Got 3 kits available from this initial batch of 10, got material for another 10 kits, just don't know when i'll have time to make them :D

Be quick if you want a kit and haven't placed an order at the group buy price yet...

Likely going to platers on Monday now, they're all welded up now, but doubt I'll get them all dressed and the bolts welded in by tomorrow morning, unless I work night shift tonight :D
 
Obligatory welded photos, anyone good with a grinder? The next bit is the part I hate :(
