If it says that on your new head gasket packaging then yes! And looks like it's the cap of one of the three rocker cover bolts.. ?

Ok thanks, I will check with the others, it's raining now can't fit it yet...
Other thing while waiting i blew the head with a compressor to get the metal left by the skimming and stuck a brass wire brush on a drill to clean up the outside . Nothing wrong with that isn't it ?

Should be fine it's only ally so just don't go at it too heavy handed with scrapers and screwdrivers like I've seen before, just nice and gentle or use abit of brake cleaner or something similar but the outside of the head doesn't really matter too much. Make sure to blast the head off with an air line after you've cleaned it make sure all the pushrod channels and waterway etc havnt got any crud brushed in.

Yep done it :) i know it doesn't matter but I would like to clean that engine well and since it's out , best time to do it !

Yep that's what it was, thanks.
Putting the camshaft back in place with the pushrods not in order... I realised 1 was way too high while the one next to it looked very low , can I just readjust them to 0.2mm and that'll be fine ? As right now I've got a valve almost all the way down !

Just finished puting everything back on in between 2 rains, didn't change anything... it's not leaking water anymore though , but it is still smoking like crazy and sound like it's working on 2 cylinders.
Same as before ... when I slacken the fuel pipe of the cylinder 3 and 4 it doesn't change anything and 1 and 2 make it almost stall...
I am giving up...
Any ideas ?
Piston rings..? Valve seals ?
I can't believe I paid someone to make sure that's what it was and it is not..

could be 2 poor injectors 3 and 4,poorly set tappets (have all the adjusters got about the same amount of thread above the nut )was head skimmed ,do you have pics of gasket ,head ,block when it was in bits prior to cleaning

If you haven't got any valves not completely closing, ie- no clearance between valves and rockers then it's time for the compression test.
It's smoking because the fuel isn't burning in 3 and 4.
Did you determine if it was water or fuel dripping from the exhaust joints?
If it is fuel I suspect, if you run it long enough, it'll appear again.

I got the injectors tested before doing the gasket, the guy said they are all good, I got the head pressure tested and skimmed yes,
setting the adjusters, 2 push roda where about 10mm too high , had to crank the engine for them to set in place ( tried everything before ) then reopened the rocker cover and readjusted them all to 0.2mm seems all fine now. I don't have any pics no but I still have the old gasket (which look pretty new actually )

how did you set tappets rule of 9 ,are threads above lock nut about the same on all

The mechanic said it was definitely water. I got some o ring to try to fix my compression tester, I will try tomorrow as I am exhausted and it started raining again

no I set them just 1 by 1 starting from the front ones, it looks like there's a tiny leak from the exhaust manifold right in front of cylinder 4 as well, like microscopic bubbles, tried to tighten it more but still does it

yes the threads on the adjuster screws looks roughly the same

you have to set by the rule of 9 by turning engine over till one valve is just fully open the counting from the front and taking that from 9 which is which you adjust , 3 fully down adjust 6 2 fully down adjust 7 etc

so i need to turn the engine on and off 8 times ? could that simply this making it smoking so much ? because I rechecked the gap (0.2mm) after turning it on and off and it was still good

you turn it over by hand to set tappets, the proper gap for each valve can only be determined when its opposing number from 9 is just fully open, poorly set tappets would cause a lot of issues

What method did you use to set the valve clearances? I'm not convinced you havnt got this bit wrong.
Rule of 9.....heard of that?
