Hi all
I’m new here a bit of a strange question my dad’s l322 tdv8 battery keeps dying after having the door open 10 minutes any advise would be great.

How old is the battery?
Is the igniton on?
Radio on?
etc
Thanks for the reply
My dads has only owned the range sines feb 21 so not sure on how old the battery is .
Ignition is off everything is also off he can leave the car for a week and it’s starts of the bottom but if you leave the door open more then 10 mins the batt is dead

When you unlock the car lots of systems wake up for around 20 minutes before shutting down again so may not just be due to door being open. I would get the battery tested and also see what size battery is fitted as the standard one isn't man enough for the job. Best fitting a mf31-1000 if the one fitted is smaller.

Tell him to try starting it off the button,he may have more luck than off the bottom.;):D:D;)

Had a similar issue. Needed Rac yesterday as mine died. I went to it 8 times during the day as was working out of it. 3pm going home errrrr no. Rac done full test. Battery cca 400, should be 950. It was only running at half power. Changed it lastnight. I'll update if I find anything else

Hi just to agree with the comments about the battery and also waking up the electrical systems. If you unlock the car but don’t start it it helps to turn the ignition switch to position II then off again that will turn off the screen and also by pressing and holding the interior light main button for a few seconds will turn all the interior lights off. A good idea if you’re vacuuming or working with the doors open.
Tricky :)

I'm fitting a second battery Tuesday to help overcome any further issues. Cant have it draining when I open the tailgate.

Hi I fitted LED bulbs to the boot lamp and tailgate, the have a lower drain, are brighter than the original festoon bulbs and cost less than a second battery.
Tricky.

I've changed my main starter battery. Had the tailgate open 10 x today. No issues. So definitely was battery. Still fitting a second one just incase. I was getting numerous faults from the old battery. Transfer box reported low battery, as did a few other modules. Now now faults.... well today that is haha

I hope you went for the bigger battery?

950cca is still bigger than the standard one so will hopefully be fine. Mine had a 900cca as recommended by Halfrauds and was fine when driven daily but started to struggle come lockdown and not moving for a few days.
