but bigger lag
I took the centre box out of my exhaust which helps the turbo spin up faster.
What!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bolocks
Because its cheaper than a muffler/center boxWhy? It certianly feels more responsive. If it is of no use why are there so many people selling aftermarket centre box eliminator pipes?

You shouldn't run into any problems fitting a bigger intercooler, turning your fuel up a bit and increasing the boost, but just make sure that you do it all properly. There are a lot of people who just go silly, turning boost up to a stupid level and then not having enough fuel being injected to make all that extra air worth while. If you are going to increase your boost slightly, don't just shorten the waste gate because it pulls on the rubber actuator diaphragm inside and if it has already started to perish, the butterfly will come off at the other side and the rod will become detached. The best thing to use is a boost valve like this UNIVERSAL MANUAL BOOST CONTROLLER BALL AND SPRING VALVE | eBay. You splice it into the rubber pipe between the compressor housing and the waste gate actuator. You then rotate the knob / dial which adjusts the preload on the spring inside the valve. The more pressure on the spring, the more pressure is required to lift the ball bearing and you effectively increase boost pressure before the waste gate is actuated. You will also need a boost gauge to ensure that you are not overdoing it. As for the injection pump, it would be wise to have it adjusted whilst the landy is on a rolling road because different adjustments affect when and how much fuel is injected in relation to boost. You can very easily have too much or too little. With regards to strain on your engine, yes there will be more - it is only natural. You are putting a lot more force onto the piston as it reaches top dead centre and begins the power stroke. There is more bang on the head gasket and the valves too but to be perfectly honest, they seem to be able to take it quite well. Obviously don't go stupidly over the top because then it will just blow at its weakest point. Keep it well serviced and it should be a good improvement.

Thanks tom i do already have a boost gauge and yes i would do it sensible im not trying to build a race car but a bit more power would be nice do you know of any other manufacturers intercoolers that i could fit like the volvo or supra ones?? or would i be better buying a 2nd hand one thats built for the 200 tdi cheers for the advice aswell
yes, the main support is the two black bits of angle which bolt to the bulkhead and radiator mounting. the expansion tank was changed, bonnet stand removed and i played around with some 2" stainless exhaust pipe with some silicone hoses. i cut a large hole in the bonnet and made a scoop out of a piece of thin aluminium (donor discovery bonnet), curving the edges. its a bit tricky to top up the oil but i use a flexi spout. you can get to most other things and it only takes a few mins to remove.
