hi everyone im looking to fit an intercooler to my 200 tdi and a brand new allisport or allard would be my dream i simply cannot afford to pay out right for one i have had a search online but not found much but is there standard intercooler from other engines i could fit a couple of locals have used toyota supra intercoolers as a front mount even a daf lorry one?

Anyhow i was wondering could you maybe use a td5 intercooler or is there another suitable intercooler from another car would love your input and thanks in advance :)

I have the Allard which was fairly simple to fit. Along with the fuel pump mod the performance difference is quite amazing.

I did look at a few other nn Landrover intercoolers before shelling out but most of them were going to be a PITA to fit!!

yeah like i say ultimately i want an allisport or allard or forge etc but i couldnt afford a brand new one and they dont come up to often on ebay second hand so i was just wondering what else is out there ive been rebuilding a truck on a budget and its amazing what you can do ive nearly finished my truck and it stands me at about 2000 and that includes the cash i paid for the truck and its a 1994 200 tdi 90 with all old man emu shock d44 turrets dislocation cone and sump guard etc simex 35 inch tyres a warn 8274 front winch and a superwinch epi-9 rear winch twin optima batterys running d44 split charge system

hey pressbrake what model volvo please is it the same one they use on the nissan 200sx as an upgrade? if i used one with the fuel pump and turbo tweak what sort of gains you think i would get?

HGF
Crankcase Pressurisation
turbo bearing and seal failure.
Brake Fade.
Expensive repair bills..
Increased Insurance premiums.

It's a landrover FFS  If you wanrt a chav mobile or a sports car. Sell it and buy summat else Or fit a V8

ive got a v8 thanks mate and i only wanna do the tweak as im told it increase's fuel economy i dont want a racing land rover but some low down torque would be nice

Dumping more fuel into what is basically a tractor engine. is never going to be a good idea. Adding an intercooler simply lowers the temperature of the incoming air. You need to increase the amount of air in order to match the increased fueling (Or it'll burn rich) and the only way to do that is via an enlarged inlet manifold. & air intake/Filter. I know that cooler air is denser than warmer air but for the amount an enlarged intercooler offers it's a minimal difference. and if you fit a masive intercooler. You run the risk of blocking the air flow thu the rad and blowing the engine.

i dont know then im just going by feedback ive read from other users and after looking online thats all

If your vehicle is going to be used for occasional greenlaning & road use I wouldn't bother. If it's a comp vehicle then do what ya want to it. but Your talking about a british made car and as everyone knows british cars have crap build quality and poor workmanship. DO you really expect to increase the strain on the engine/transmission brakes etc and not have any adverse effects??

what a load of bollox

it will be used as a daily driver and for some off roading and i thought the 200 engine were quite strong?

First time I ever treaked an injection pump was on me 110 cos after fitting a Disco transfer box for better motorway cruising it was struggling a bit with the higher gearing!!

The difference is fecking amazeing :eek: goes like stink, pull's like a train but unfourtunatly it's bull about the consumption-it goes UP!!! unless you are not like me and manage not to put yeh foot down.

Also highly recomend silicon hoses.

we is talking about a 200 not a td5. ya can't remap a 200 to alter the fuelling.

sticking a bigger intercooler on a 200 dun't do ****..

it does mines a 300 but with bigger intercooler and tweaked fuel pump goes a lot better than standard ans seems to be useing less fuel

you dont have to remap it, you tweak fuel pump, then the bigger intercooler helps it to not run to rich by putting denser air into the mix

yep on an engine that's at least 16 years old and probably done in excess of 200,000 miles like I said in my 1st reply just asking for trouble.
