The engine starts and stops fine so I don’t think it’s an the solinoid. It’s making a very fast ticking noise when it’s driving
Seems to be quite a few FiP posts at the moment. Re rebuild or second hand, it depends on 1. budget available, and 2. how reliable do you need the FiP to be using an unknown source. I'm of the old school here, send it off to Diesel Bob for a full rebuild and you'll know it'll be right first time.
Bet you some time in the past it has been fed veg oil.
You're not a million miles from dieselec between Shrewsbury and Bridgnorth roughly. They found a broken spring in mine and with a reseal came to £80 iirc around 5 yrs ago. No issues since. Real old skool oily counter place.
take it to the guys at Dieselec they will tell you exactly what's needed, will not rip you off and will do a first class jobWe’ve had a lot of trouble with old tractor pumps seizing up after regular use in the summer and being parked up for winter. My old man reckons the fuel doesn’t lubricate like it used to “back int day”! I am leaning towards getting it rebuilt because I tow quite a few animals with it and don’t want to break down with them being stuck in the trailer but I’m worried it’s going to cost an extortionate amount with the pump being in a bad way.
More than likely. Probably along with some old sump oil for good measure.
Not sure if I’d get time with it being two hours away. I’ll keep them in mind though. Everything diesel related I used to take to sales diesel in Stoke but unfortunately they have shut.
