I got some manual tuning stero with a rotary knob fer tuning, it drifs off station as it warms up, wired to 4 landie fitted speakers of which only 2 work, it looks like it was fitted from new in my J plater disco.
oh, its got one of them cassette player slots in it too,
that collects lose objects that fall of the dash as to not let them roll all over the floor.

asked if I wanted a new head unit by family,
I said I have a RADAR key for those small "emergancies"
so thanks but no thanks..

now, do I chose the long, medium or short wave today...
damm these valves, take ages to warm up...

here we go,

Its a whistle while you work....

My latest soundproofing/tidying up efforts, quite chuffed with the way it looks, just need to order some closed cell foam that bankz recommended for the roof lining :D

Fitted my foam rooflining, closed cell foam with acoustic matting over it, makes a difference to the speaker quality :D Many thanks to bankz for the tip :)

Oh bloody hell! That looks fantastic! Exellent job sir!!

Much better than my pile of crap I made!

What acoustic matting did you use?

Ahh thats near enough the same stuff I used.

Actually thinking about redoing mine with 10mm foam, I didnt in the first place because of the alpine windows. Maybe 6mm....

Ive done so much sound proofing now it has made such a difference! Biggest one was 10mm foam inside the doors and A pillars.

3mm foam + carpet over the mid-bulkhead has made a big difference too.

Still bloody waiting to fit my speakers in!!! Ive got to wire in a new ISO adaptor before I can :(

I have a cheapy stereo which you can't hear very well that goes off when I indicate right, wishing to replace it.!:)

If its a standard DIN then you either need removal tools (basicially some very thin peices of ali) go down either side of the unit then it should just slide out. nice and simple!

Yeah thought so It came out with brute force lol. New question put adapter plug in and stereo works if I turn the key once (No ignition) if I put ignition turning the key for the second time. The stereo flicks on and off.

shouldnt have needed the adapter i didnt......... new headunit just plugged straight into the normal wiring. only thing i cant use is the dash buttons but that doesnt bother me.

Yeah 2 of the 4 plugs fitted into connector fine and the results are as above. I've give up for today. Hoping some more toys will turn up tomorrow.

Just as I got all the bloody soundproofing done the rear lining started to sag!! Turns out someone had previously (very badly) installed a CB radio ariel, removed it but not sealed the bolt hole!! So water has been coming in through there and slowly removing the glue :(

Caught it early so easily repaired though.

However the ****ty supposedly 'heavy duty' spray glue I used sucks d!ck and the carpet is coming away now too!! Off to wickes tomorrow for some heavy duty carpet glue, a selection of G clamps and wood should hold the lot in while it sets!!

With the recent nice weather and a black roof, mine rooflining has also sagged, I give up  :D

After giving up with my foam rooflining, I had another go today, and have kind of sorted the problem and it involved 3 strips of mahogany :D will get some pictures tomorrow if weather is good :)

I just didn't update :p Honestly, I think I'm just going to do it proper and get a LaSalle rooflining. It's doing my head in at the moment looking untidy  :D
