Hi all, Im after a bit of advice please, and yes ive had a look and done some research. But not found exactly what im after.
Ive got defender 90 td5 and im after improving the standard shocks and springs that are already on there! Im not after lifting it, just improving
(if thats possible)
I use the vehicle as a daily run around (work and back) and for green laning and pay and play days.
What would you recommend i go for??? Or would you not bother?
If this has already been covered many times, my apologies in advance and could you point me in the right direction

how old are the ones on there? what miles have they covered? do you carry any weight or is your 90 pretty stock?

Cant really go wrong with standard height springs and armstrong shocks.

Not sure how old they are, the vehicle is 1999 but im sure they have been replaced in the past before i got it, I dont carry much weight in it really only very occasionally will i have it heavily loaded.
The only reason im looking into replacing/upgrading is because i had a shock fail/break after a pay and play day resulting in the spring not seating back properly. It was a armstrong shock.

Depends on budget as usual.

As for which brand of shock/spring everyone has a favourite, but some are better value than others...I'd stick with some quality dampers if your springs are OK, you want a nice supple ride as its a compromise between road/lane.

Avoid Sh**part and ProComp - lot of votes for Terrafirma and OME, or DeCarbon.

Take your pick, they all perform - just depends what you need & can afford.

Price i always follow the rule of buy cheap buy twice, so i dont mind spending on a good set.
Do terrafirma do standard dampers/shocks or are the all for raised spings?

Ive fitted BritPart HD shocks and springs to mine (HD does make it abit solid) and despite what people say have never had a problem on or off road. Decent buy id say. Up to you.
