I run a 300w inverter for all sorts of stuff wiv no bovver!

If you want to run summet @ 2KW make sure you have some F-off wire from battery to inverter !

Xbox and TV, apparently theres f*** all to do in the Sahara :p

Honestly, I don't really know.. Laptop and hard drives to load pics from the GoPro's each night, maybe a travel kettle.. Thats about all I have planned. But if I am getting a second battery for the fridge anyway, I think it's just a useful thing to have for the future. :)

Get a jetboil, the gas lasts for ages and you have enough water for 2 in a couple of minutes. Great if you go off for a wander.

See Mark - everyone recommends JetBoil's over kettles :D

Got to wait till payday on Friday, then i'll be buying one :)

Yellowtops are ****e got a dead one in the workshop. they're fine when new but don't lst very long at all. and don't like power surges and spikes from the Alternator. if ya going to fit red or yellow tops then some sort of antisurge diode gizmo between Alt & batteries. would be a sound investment.

I have a Leisure battery in the pikey wagon that's been there 3 years of which the pikeywagon stood empty for nearly 12months with no trickle charger for the battery. and it's still doing it's job.

Make sure you have a good flow of air around the invertor Maybe an additional Pooter chip fan or summat similar. they get very very hot when been used. & as the vehicle tends to be stationary when in use. they can quickly overheat.

Cheers Pikey. think i'm suitably put off Yellow tops!

Haven't found a suitable home for the inverter yet, but was considering ventalation for it... maybe next to the rear air-con outlets - then i can just blast it with cold air :D

I've just got a cheap (40 snakes) leisure battery from a "Cowky" shop. Sold for the purpose of solar charged electric fencing !

I would wire your inverter to the ignition as they burn out quickly conected even turned off !

Looks the same as my 1800w, lasted about 4 years before it gave up. They arent keen on lumps of firewood being thrown at them

Ah... that's where buying quality comes in... thrown a log at mine so far... although... i've not even wired it up yet... bugger... hope i haven't killed it before i've got going...

Surely you would wire it up with an isolator switch anyway? Or a solenoid and switch on the dash? Well I think I'm going to do both ;).

How you guys getting on? Me and cartoon head was thinking of a pub meet in the not so distant future (before Wales) to make sure as a team we don't forget anything :) excited much haha

Yes, i was planning on isolating anyway.

Pub meet sounds good, mentioned that to Cartoonhead ages ago... then failed to do anything about it

getting there with it all, doing a test run down to the New Forest in a few weeks with the missus.
