Semi panicked calling from the other side of my workshop door while I was welding.
"Dan, that's tree's come down in the garden."
Stop everything to go look.
Yup a rotten old birch (c.30 years) with dome interesting fungal growths 20 foot up has snapped off at a main bifurcation and half of it is now hanging over my fence into N-D-N's garden.
Lots of sawing to get the remaining shard holding this half of the tree to "let-go".
Finally got it down and heaved it all back over the fence.
Lots of "told you so's" from herself and me just shrugging and saying, "Well? It's down now."

Reminds me of the tree in a garden not so far away from us that had been deemed "safe" by the council. The same thing happened to it as happened to yours, only it was a big branch that fell across the street and onto the top of a parked car the other side of the road. It did it quite a bit of damage.
I'm hoping yours didn't hurt your fence or anything belonging to the neighbour. 🫰🫰🫰

Luckily no. I will have a clearing up job to do this week. Shame my chainsaw is borked. :(

More work just generated, to now cut it up for the fire .
Good job you have plenty of time being retired:p.

That is a shame. Borked in what way?
Black Friday and all that you may be able to get a noo one cheap. I got an electric, (wired not batt) Titan from Scroofix a year or two back for £40. in a sale. It works just fine and will be going to France to replace my Titan petrol one which worked fine for years until the chain oil started weeing out as fast as I put it in. Still starts, runs and cuts, but the chain oil issue makes it a pain to use.

My little 16" Bar Ryobi fails to switch the brake off and overheats. All the parts are as they should be, but following the cutting of a lot of Eucalyptus there is a rock hard gummy deposit in the brake drum that I cannot shift, so it is always trying to STOP.
I can release the brake ONLY if I over stress the release mechanism/position by pulling it past the "free-to-run" stop with a cable -tie. Not ideal. :(

Oh dear.
IPA, acetone, WD40 no good?
Is the drum plastic or metal? Prolly a dumb question, the one on mine is metal.

Bin to t'ospicle.
Borin lyin down listenin to scanner. For about narf a nour.
good thing doggies got me up as I glanced at the alarm clock, it was flashing, flipping power cut due to wind.
Which also tore the tarp which used to be over the Red Disco.:(
Pouring down with rain.
Noo neebs' youngest, plus boyfriend, came to ask me if they could borrow my trailer. they wanted to shift some sofas, something to do with new tenants moving in tomoz and an uncle with a van having let them down.
I thought about it and told them I'd have to drive the Disco and they'd need tarps and ratchet straps, (Has to be the car trailer the other one isn't accessible.)
I get changed for the weather, dig out the Dixon-Bate and wait for them to tell me they've got their end sorted out.
They came back and apparently mother had heard from them, saw that what they wanted to do wasn't entirely necessary, so it is off.
Phew!
Enjoy the rest of the day!:):):)

If youve got that trailer empty just load the red disco onto it & I'll collect it now its been unwrapped before crimbo. 🤣 🤣

Afternoon folks:).

Frosty start when I got up to watch the F1. But sunny, so did a bit of winterizing outside should be all good now.

Had a really enjoyable meal with our friends in the "big town" last night.
They have just changed a Woodburner with water jacket(in the kitchen) for a pellet burner. Now their house is warm they say. So will be interesting to hear how they get on for cost of pellets over the wood they used to use. I have considered 1 to fit in the basement hopper fed from outside so easy to load. Maybe later when moving so much wood gets to much;).

Got arf a trailer of sand to empty so it can be used for wood transfer duties tomorrow, My back will probably complain later:oops:.

Back to work for the workers tomorrow, another normal working day for us retired.

My mate has a pellet heating system good when working but has gave him some major grief over the years said he'd wished
he got another type.
