Having a do nowt day - or nearly nowt. (Did a tip run this morning). Eldest dottir has just moved into a noo house, couple of days ago, so 'er indoors has gone there for a visit (they are only an hour away). Managed to avoid going there myself - dottir rang up this morning to see if I could take some tools there as they have a problem getting water from the plumbing into the washing machine. Spoke to son in law and pointed the way forward, and told him scroofix is 5 mins away from him if he needs tools. Was going to do an oil n filter change on me tratter but its got too hot out there, so will do it tomorrow, early, when it's a bit cooler.

Winter fool payments to be means tested.
Bus passes (under review).
I wonder when they will decide that the prudent folks who paid into a private pension should lose some of their state pension?
All governments pick the workers pocket, but some do it more than others.

They are doing it already. The value of my state pension is notified to my company pension provider and they deduct tax out of the company pension.
That's because you are "double-dipping".
Taking an income from the state pension AND a wage from employment.
You have to pay tax on total income.
I was referring to the possibility of them saying....
"Well Mr/Mrs Jones, as you have a decent private pension income over this threshold limit we are reducing your state pension by this much (even though you paid more NI than was required) purely because the idle-folks that did nothing to save for their future need the states money more than you do."

Me as well, robbing the poor to pay the rich :(
It’s called income and if you go over the bottom line you pay tax.
We don’t even get a state pension but have to fill in a tax return every year, yep and we don’t even live in the UK or get any of the benefits.
