Wow that was close :p.

washed down with a nice IPA or 3
Many years ago I organised a works do at a brewery somewhere in the north of Essex, can't remember which one. (Just to prove I COULD organise a PU in a brewery). Prior to the tour we had beers in the Director's bar. IPA was absolutely gorgeous, they had to drag me out to do the tour. The best beer I ever tasted, ever. (Probably). :vb-drink::vb-drink::vb-drink::vb-drink::vb-drink::vb-drink:

Winter fool payments to be means tested.
Bus passes (under review).
I wonder when they will decide that the prudent folks who paid into a private pension should lose some of their state pension?
All governments pick the workers pocket, but some do it more than others.
Doesn't this belong on another thread, like the one(s) on Anything Goes?
If this flipper gets political I think I'll be avoiding it, which would be a real shame cos so far it has avoided it.
Just saying.

When we went on it one of the paddles got busted in some way, so we had to drop anchor in Weymouth Bay while some blokes did a bit of welding. Extended our cruise by quite a while.
I was hypnotised by the triple expansions. Really loved it. Long may it sail!!:):):):)

Yer its really something to watch it draws you in. I was surprized its only got one crankshaft so running both paddles, if they
designed it with a split crank so the paddles could go in different directions which would be much easier to turn it.
Or have it such a way you could use a clutch on each paddle to slow one side down.
I was impressed with how smooth is was but im sure I could here a knock of the post side piston. Watch this space lol

They are doing it already. The value of my state pension is notified to my company pension provider and they deduct tax out of the company pension.
That is totally normal, it happens to me and W, how else would they know how much tax to deduct?

The only slight con is that they try to say that the state pension is never taxed. And by they I mean govts of all stripes.
Of course it isn't if it comes under the tax threshold which in itself is a screaming indictment of how poop the state pension is in this country. BUT if all your pensions are simply added together you, like all the rest of us pensioners, pay tax on all the combined monies you get from all pensions. when they get above the threshold. As do working stiffs.

And flip me this looks like I am joining in about politicks.
Well I am not I am just talking about how tax is worked out, but it is getting a bit close to the wind so I'll shut up about it.

Yep - exactly the same with steak.
I cringe when I hear someone ask for “well done please”
Love the tin foil trick. Haven't heard of that before.
I will try it as I find even if I cook it to perfection, whack it on the plate then start eating it straight away it somehow gets "off" a bit before I get to the end.
Thanks fopr this both of you!:):):):)

You raise some really good points and I too would love to know the answer.
I suppose if each paddle was geared to the crank in such a way that one could be reversed then you'd have a ship that could turn on its centre point.
I think I need to do a bit of research to see how exactly it worked.
It sounds like this is the first time you have been on it. I thought it wintered up in your neck of the woods?
