That is totally normal, it happens to me and W, how else would they know how much tax to deduct?

The only slight con is that they try to say that the state pension is never taxed. And by they I mean govts of all stripes.
Of course it isn't if it comes under the tax threshold which in itself is a screaming indictment of how poop the state pension is in this country. BUT if all your pensions are simply added together you, like all the rest of us pensioners, pay tax on all the combined monies you get from all pensions. when they get above the threshold. As do working stiffs.

And flip me this looks like I am joining in about politicks.
Well I am not I am just talking about how tax is worked out, but it is getting a bit close to the wind so I'll shut up about it.
Will try to avoid the poli-ticks in future. It doesn't belong here, I agree. My bad. :)

They tend to come oot more when it’s wet. They slide easier.
Dabbled with some macro photos with slugs a few years ago…

Tis ok we are taking one for the team its lashing here. :(
We have had a teensy-weensy thunderstorm. But v little rain.
Happened just after I had watered the veg.
Does everyone else suffer with plastic watering hose guns that are absolute pants?
Ours just sort of brucked in my hand tonight so now it is only any use as a sort of on /off thing, where I leave it on the hose for "off" and take it off and use my finger or thumb in the end of the hose fitting for "on".
Grrr!

You raise some really good points and I too would love to know the answer.
I suppose if each paddle was geared to the crank in such a way that one could be reversed then you'd have a ship that could turn on its centre point.
I think I need to do a bit of research to see how exactly it worked.
It sounds like this is the first time you have been on it. I thought it wintered up in your neck of the woods?

Yup all the years ive worked on & been around boats ive never been on it, bit ashamed of myself tbh. Ive always admired it
& I know people who work on it. Something always comes up or im too busy to go. The misses has been on it a couple of times
plus I told my mate she was going on it & they got the grand tour up in the wheel house & the boiler room ect. My mate is back
on it in September so I will make a point of going again.

Ive seen it loads of times moored up at the science centre on the Clyde.

Got any answers yet........

...that there is a reasonable chance that my middle lad will be "minted" in the next year or so.
Clever boy has had a really good idea that is getting a lot of interest.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for him as it could all turn to dust (just like all of us), but it does look promising.
Good job I have 15% stake in the company. :D
Can't say more till next month because that will probably be the decider.
I do so hope it all flies. because he deserves the "win" after all the crap he has been through. :

"European side-wheelers, such as PS Waverley, connect the wheels with solid drive shafts that limit maneuverability and give the craft a wide turning radius. Some were built with paddle clutches that disengage one or both paddles so they can turn independently. However, wisdom gained from early experience with side-wheelers deemed that they be operated with clutches out, or as solid-shaft vessels. Crews noticed that as ships approached the dock, passengers moved to the side of the ship ready to disembark. The shift in weight, added to independent movements of the paddles, could lead to imbalance and potential capsizing. Paddle tugs were frequently operated with clutches in, as the lack of passengers aboard meant that independent paddle movement could be used safely and the added maneuverability exploited to the full."

Love letter.....Dear John 🤣🤣
Well obvs as it is a Pm I cannot divulge, but closer to Dear Dad, as he is wanting advice. ;) I think... Or maybe just someone to sound off at.
Reminds me a bit of my last year at uni when I was the oldest in the hall and peeps of both genders used to come to me for advice, and the inevitable, (from the females) "(Tearful) Can I sleep on your floor?" Duvet and teddy bear clutched in her arms, or "I've just taken 100 aspirin" so out came the old Cortina Mk1 to drive her and some mates to the local Casualty as it used to be called. Mates came for the laugh and to prevent me going mad with the boredom of waiting to drive her back home.
