The dvla look for a garage inspection, receipt for new engine, proof that the conversion was done before you bought it.
Rac/AA inspection report for insurance proposes plus a new mot would be a good shout & tell them its been converted
so they can note the engine no. Then fill in your v5 an send it off.

1275 is a desirable engine & will sell no probs should you want to fit a 998cc, I think I know where there is one.
I do luv a wee mini ive built a few over the years.
I've never heard of anyone going to all that trouble. so if the DVLA really are looking for all that stuff then that is new on me.
I just told them it had been done, they never asked for any stuff about a garage inspection, receipt for new engine (it was secondhand anyway) etc and I don't think they'd give a poop if you did it or it was done afore you got it. No need for an MOT or anything and as far as insurance was concerned under "any mods" I just told them about the engine although I was already asking for quotes on a Mini 1275. Lets face it, Mini 1275s have been around for yonks. TBh the paint job and wheels put it further up their list of "desirable to thieves". As it was a Cooper lookalike.
Maybe my experience is a little old-hat although it wasn't that long ago, unlike the kits which were before SVA.

Omg that operation, I looked it up (probably shouldnt have) Id have thought the tube fix would be done if gets enlarged
before the risk of it getting so big it does burst. Is this something that can get done privately as id be going down that route.
I think about cancer all the time & what I went though its always a worry, you must be the same especially loosing a family
member to the same thing which cant be good for you. :(
thanks mate, it is "of concern" but there is a huge risk associated with the op so it is a bit of a "hobson's choice". ;)

Help!
I need advice.
This car I have "won".
They have transferred the V5 details online to say I now own it (my name & address).
I looked online and...... The car is genuine but has "alterations" not declared to DVLA.
Change of colour. From BLUE to GREY
Different Engine/size. From 980cc to 1275.
Where does this leave me? A Q plate and/or a crushed car?
Not feeling so lucky.
Just for your information
The two studs that hold the engine number in place actually unscrew if you get under them with a small screwdriver.
Only visible difference between a standard 1275 and a 998 or 1098 is the carb size and the 1275 has two core plugs in the clutch end of the block whereas the others have only one.
Sporty 1275 has extra stud in head of course but MG etc dont (except MG 1300GT and Van den plas etc)
It's not a big problem, I would tell dvla you bought the car and notice that the engine number is wrong and could they change it,

Morning all.
Panic stations here at Chateau Steamer.
The wife puts regular delivery orders in from Waitrose. Today everything was up the sprout (!).
And she is concerned that further orders she has placed for Christmas and New Year are also fubar.
So big flap, "Have you been scammed?" etc etc.
Calls to both Waitrose and John Lewis whose credit card she uses to pay them.
Fortunately at least John Lewis, being the parent company of Waitrose, had the sense to not pay out on orders not confirmed properly. But for a while she thought we could be 100s of sovs out of pocket.
We think it might just be that she tried to do too much at once on the "app" and it threw its toys out of the pram.
So, hey ho, we, or maybe just I, will have to go shopping in Wimborne. What a pain.
A few minutes ago the delivery guy turned up with what had been her "holding order" and we had to turn him away.
Like central heating, it is a luxury you get used to.

Found out the issue with Waitrose.
W had us on her app in her name but with two passwords, which I think ought to be impossible.
Cos after all this kerfuffle started I told her to switch off her computer and that we would open an account on mine.
Then we discovered that "I" (actually probably "we") already had an account on thisn.
So I had to find the password and once in found all the missing orders and the now cancelled ones!
Bonkers!
Emails have been coming to me rather than her.🙄

Now here's a thing.
Do any of you have better halves that shame you on Christmas day by giving you far, far more presents than you give her, or him?

My missus does this to me year on year. Not just the main ones agreed by both etc, but also I have to have the "Christmas sock" which she made years ago, and comes full of little presents. Then there are also the ones that come "from the dogs". She always swears blind that she hasn't spent more on me than I have on her. My biggest problem being that I hardly ever know what to get her.

But yessdi I had a real result. We had time before lunch to go in a shop she has always wanted to enter. It sells crystal jewellery but that means cheaper stones than diamonds, stuff like amethysts, not flipping tin hat stuff. So she noticed a 50% reduction on pendants, all good. by the time she had finished there was a galaxy of stuff sitting on the counter just waiting to be packaged up.
The assistant did her stuff with the calculator at which point I gently said, "I'll take that!".
Whoopee! :vb-banana::vb-banana::vb-banana::vb-bouncy2::vb-bouncy3::vb-bouncy:
Nothing like knowing I've got her stuff she really wants. All mounted in silver as she has allergy to base metals. And not cheapo stuff neeva!

Still wish I had a more reliable method, even asking her dottir doesn't work..
She may be tellin yer right. She ain't spent more on yer...

...if she's shop lifting. Just keep shtoom. ;)

I had a mate who built a nova & fitted the 2l redtop engine in it. It took him ages to sort it just wondering if he was unlucky
they made it hard for him. Ok so now we have a mini project to sort out some paper work how hard can it be..

I am revelling in the fact that the electronic element of control over the valve has been eliminated. By watching it and controlling parts of the system manually I have got on top of it.
I will eventually get to the bottom of how the old motorised valve worked and how the new one works, or ones like it, to be able to convert a new one. I seriously think they must have changed.
Whatever, some testing is going to be called for. Don't have the time for playing now.;)
Wots the make, model and part number ovvit? Can't be that difficult to wuk oot worrit does. Smoke controls a fing blocking/unblocking a hole.

Thanks all, I am feeling very much reassured that I will be ok with the Historic Mini.
It will feel good to ride around in it knowing no road-tax is due and the ULEZ etc. can go do one. :D
I wonder if I should fit extra security to it; because it might be too tempting for the "boy-racers" to ignore and British cars always had such easily defeatable locks. :(
