Bloody hell, what do they do to fix this. Also if you have a problem why do they wait for so long to do something about it.
Thanks @kevstar for the concern. The "fixes" are either a really horrible major laparotomy (open you up from stem to stern) repair or a less invasive procedure that places a tube inside the aorta that gets fixed to the walls of the artery above and below your distended aneurysm and so taking the pressure off the weakened blood vessel.

Why they wait so long is......
They can.
Sometimes they never burst until they are really big.
Sometimes they only swell up a "bit" and go no further and like a volcano go dormant.
They like to keep you on your toes. ;)

Help!
I need advice.
This car I have "won".
They have transferred the V5 details online to say I now own it (my name & address).
I looked online and...... The car is genuine but has "alterations" not declared to DVLA.
Change of colour. From BLUE to GREY
Different Engine/size. From 980cc to 1275.
Where does this leave me? A Q plate and/or a crushed car?
Not feeling so lucky.

Colour schmuller, no worries. So long as the engine and chassis numbers are right then they are just mods to be advised I fink, even if the engine is from a GT. Q plates are for proper mongrels (no offence).
Am sure Stan will be able to advise.

Omg that operation, I looked it up (probably shouldnt have) Id have thought the tube fix would be done if gets enlarged
before the risk of it getting so big it does burst. Is this something that can get done privately as id be going down that route.
I think about cancer all the time & what I went though its always a worry, you must be the same especially loosing a family
member to the same thing which cant be good for you. :(

How much do you want for it....

But if its a different engine number I am sunk am I not?

The dvla look for a garage inspection, receipt for new engine, proof that the conversion was done before you bought it.
Rac/AA inspection report for insurance proposes plus a new mot would be a good shout & tell them its been converted
so they can note the engine no. Then fill in your v5 an send it off.

1275 is a desirable engine & will sell no probs should you want to fit a 998cc, I think I know where there is one.
I do luv a wee mini ive built a few over the years.

Afternoon folks :).

Well I am all new carded up for 10yrs, as long as I am good they wont chuck me out:banana: .

Some more wood in the porch and probably get another trailer load tomorrow to be full again.

So a question.
The brown boards in trailers and some of the little scaffold tower boards, looks like some sort of impregnated ply. Does anybody know what its actually called??
Our little trailer has it and it has developed a split/hump so will need changing but not really sure what to goggle:).

J
I had it in mine and they called it Phenolic ply.

If it has a V5c with all alterations correctly mentioned on it you should be OK.
Change of colour is absolutely no problem, change of engine size also is not a problem, I did that when my Mini E went from 995 CC to 1275.
No need whatsoever for a Q plate. It is essentially the original car with alterations, not a radically altered vehicle. You can scope all this out on the Gov.uk website if you wish, but as a kit car builder I can tell you that you should be in the clear as, basically you still have the same shell, suspension, running gear etc.
FFS I have two cars that look nothing like the original donors but both still run on the original plates.
Out of the 8 points needed to keep the original reg, only 1 is the engine, and it is perfectly legit to change that. To my mind you have 13 points so no problems. See below.

So get hold of the car, tell them about the colour change, get a new V5c, then tell them about the engine change, get another V5c. Or do it all in one go. TBH they are more bothered about peeps trying to say they have put a smaller engine into a car to reduce their road tax!
I wish I had a copy of the V5c for my Mini, whose colour had changed to red with a white roof and white stripes on the bonnet plus the 1275 engine.
don't worry Dan you'll be OK.
