If you dont lose coolant then why suspect it? if some got in number 3 but not others maybe needs monitoring.

...that I am happy now I have repaired all the stats that weren't working, bar the one that got heated! Although even that one might still be repairable with a new capacitor and relay, and a bit of work on the PCB.
So I have now repaired 8 plus one that was not working completely right.
I made sure I measured the capacitance of the ones I took off, most had gone down from 47 mF to about 20-21. The one that was only just about working had gone down to 23.3 mF. so it interesting what the margin is.
So I now have spares as I had already replaced 2 with the expensive (€58) ones, and bought in a cheaper more basic one, that I have tested and works too.
I feel this is the biggest achievement of my time over here this year.
And all down to an old thread on a Frog electronics forum!!
I wouldn't say I am now a skilled solderer on PCBs but I have got a heck of a lot better. The biggest problem was one soldering point at one end of each capacitor which is possibly just less than 1mm from another track. I think the blown one came about because I strayed into the track even though I did try to clean it up. Also bits of track lifting from the PCB.
So loadsa money saved. Love it!!
Just got to put them all back on the walls in the rooms etc and clear up my workstation.

Well the damage was a lot less, than with the plumbing, a nasty smell for a little while compared to a little spillage!Nice result.
It just shows with a little less "its disposable" attitude things can be fixed, well done for perserverance.
So do we now call you Stan Stan the soldering man?

I did do a comp test couple of weeks ago. All are within 10% of one another at around 175/180 except #1 which is much higher (210).

Tis nice to be nice, I spent my lunch hour fixing my older neebs log burner, she had it serviced/chimney swept & a week later... my good deed for the day is completed.
I spotted an elderly lady across the road shuffling along and obviously in some difficulty.
She was hanging on to street furniture, walls, railings and cars as she slowly hobbled up the street.
I asked if she needed any help and she said yes please. I offered her my arm and we snail's pace walked up the street for some considerable distance in the pouring rain. She was outside number 26 and I had to slowly walk with her to number 160 which is quite a way up the hill. She was exhausted I think. Her house was a bit derelict and I had to walk backwards up a slope to get her to her back door (the front door being inaccessible and overgrown with shrubbery and brambles).
She admitted that in her hurry to post a letter before the post office closed she had forgotten her walking stick.
Her little poodle dogs were very pleased to see her.
I suspect a bit of dementia may have been involved (her, not me...you understand?).
Anyway the steady rain has soaked me through and my wife was upset that I had gone missing, and I got a telling off.
So truly....no good deed goes unpunished.
There was no way it was going back up, I managed to flip it 180 degrees inside the fire
