Woke up 3 times int night struggling to breath. Me castle was too hot. Eye want to make some filters to go over me open windows to stop flies coming in so eye can open them widerer.
If you hain't got screens, then open the winder early in the evening and shut the door. Then an hour before going to bed, go in, close the winndy and the door and spray fly killer all around, then go back out shutting the door behing thee.
Then when you go to bed it should be cool and fly free.

Morning all

Similar here with 25 outside , 21c indoors with all the windows , curtains closed , ceiling and tower fans going
Keeping a house cool, especially a bedroom is an art form.
Here when it gets to 30 degs regular we have routines. Which involve when to open and shut windows, etc.
As a general rule, close windows and curtains when the sun is on them. if you have an "upstairs" use the downstairs to let cool air in and up and out of the upstairs, so windows in the shade downstairs open, or even doors. same with windows upstairs , even in rooms you don't use, to get the cool updraught.
We have an east facing window in the bedroom so we make sure it is closed with its curtain closed first thing, then go and open it later, curtain open too. Upstairs bathroom and landing windows open too, so the whole upstairs gets cool.

But. no argument, dealing with heat AND mozzies really is a thing you have to work on.
One problem is that any south or west facing wall will absorb heat during the day then chuck it out at night.

It's certainly cooler here in the east midlands this morning,so the brief burst of summer earlier in the week seems to be over. To stop it getting too hot in here I tend to open the windows at the back, which is north facing, and draw the curtains at the front which gets the full force of the sun. There's an attic window that I open too, so that hot air can escape out of the top and draw more cooler air in from the shade at the back.

Mornin
Sunshine and light cloud with a stiff breeze, 23 inside so quite nice :)
Takin girlfriend shoppin this morning, why do I always pick a woman who cant drive ?
She'll have to suffer in the truck cause me transit wont go under the barrier at shopping centre
Thursday already!!
Stay cool all

Indeed , ref opening the doors and windows at the right time and not letting the mozzies in 🤣

Have often looked at AC mobile units but for one that’s around 54 Db / 9000, BTU’s , they range around £400 and for the amount of times it gets extremely hot I really can’t warrant it for the amount of money , plus electric and for how many times it would be used

Having a ceiling fan and tall tower fan quite effective particularly during the day with the windows and curtains closed as don’t want to let the heat in

Must be really hot in comparison of where u go in France

Never forget going to a mate who was in southern Spain and his AC broke down, it was august and it hit 50c , was also brutal working in New York heat in the July August time

Sometimes would go and sit in the van until I got some of the sash window AC units , even bought one for work when I was working in houses that didn’t have AC in the basements where the majority of the boilers were

... Definitely NOT panicking that things will all go pear shaped next week in Holland.
Nope definitely not. NoSiree-Bob.
Yesterday I did something daft. I plugged a box of electronics onto the "Tee" of my bikes main battery line.
I had forgotten that I had (since last using this box of trick) revered the polarity on all the cables/connectors.
Upshot? 3,600 Watts of "angry pixies" stormed into the box o'tricks and had a party. :vb-party3:🥳:vb-partyguy:
They must have got a bit drunk because they sent me some blue-smoke and firecracker sounds as they celebrated their freedom.
So 2 buck convertors and 4 USB chargers were turned to slag and covered in burnt silver-foil confetti.
After I had changed my undershorts I tried to switch the e-bike on. No go.
Disconnected everything, reconnected e-bike side and all OK. Went for a little "end of the e street & back" ride to make sure it was all working. Phew!
Recharged the e-bike batteries (to check they were ok).
Only 4 more sleeps till departure for the ferry at Harwich. :D

Have a great time and try not to fry anything whilst you are away!

"Filters" ha ha!
We just call em mozzie screens!
Maybe not so easy to get the material in Blighty.

Bit of sticky backed Velcro and Bob's your tranny aunty!
We have mozzie screens on all opening windows and doors, ordered with the windows. Had to have the mesh replaced last year as some were suffering.
But its normal here.

If its only for a couple of windows then look for a caravan door fly screen, plenty available. We got 1 after we got the dog so we could have the door open and the dog could go in/out as he wanted. Simple velcro and fly net type stuff (as per Stan).

Fings a bit tense round ere. :(
Took eldest dog to the vets as she decided to basically not eat very much as of three days ago.
Story is something indefinable wrong with her liver function after blood test and liver function test, the ultra sound showed no tumour but a lot of "liquid", type unknown, where it shouldn't be, some denser than the rest. Vet saw no tumour and thinks it may be a problem in the tissue that surrounds "all" organs down there. She doesn't think it bodes well. The poor doggy has lost a lot of weight over the past few months. We just thought it was her getting scraggy as she is 15 and 1/2. She showed no other symptoms at all. But she has got wobblier of late to the point that I have to carry her downstairs as she is frightened of slipping on the tiled floor and stairs.
So she is on antibios for a week plus stuff to "help" her liver, then back for a check to see how she is getting on.
It's always sad when they come to the end. And she is such a lovely, gentle dog. Although she can be cantankerous sometimes!
