...deep joy that piece of marvellous German engineering (the wife's BMW Mini Cooper All4) just keeps on giving.
The garage called to say all the AC solid tube plumbing is seized solid and will just crack if they persevere with trying to remove it.
They say it will need new pipes from the main-stealer and a **** load of more disassembly (labour). We are now looking at >£1100 to "fix" it.

Whereas, the 23 year old P38 just keeps on going. :D

@DanClarke , if this is just alloy AC pipework that's oxidised rust seized it needs soaking with Coca-Cola and/or PlusGas for a few days. Then a little heat and it will come free. If new pipes needed just buy from a reputable supplier. An £1100 bill would be outrageous for a bit of pipework and a re-gas.

eta it's citric acid in Coca-Cola that eats the adhesive oxidisation.

Well there's a bit more to it than just this latest additional stuff. We've got leaks and condenser failure and the dual speed fan had to be replaced because the low-speed side had gone and BMW have made it non-repairable in these later models (£300 + labour)
It is turning into a money pit. As they have explained it to me ...the low-speed fan is meant to run more or less all the time covering engine cooling and A/C condenser cooling (or the High-pressure side of the A/C goes wayyy too high) the High-Speed side of the fan only comes on when the engine is effectively "overheating", so you run the risk of having a boilover on a hot day in a traffic-jam which is a bit catastrophic for the engine. :(

Got me 5th wheel too low, should have measured instead of guessing. Never mind they were sat on two cross rails on full size so I'll do that.

...phosphoric, not citric but aside from that, I agree entirely with what you say and would do that myself despite it prolly being a total pain to get to. We have quite a few companies near us who shape pipe and put fittings on to match. So doubtless @DanClarke will havd some nearby.
A regas on its own ain't too dear, a certain trye company is said to do "any car" for 40 sovs.
Anyway, Dan best of luck with it. ;)
I'm sure you'll find a way around the fan etc issue!

W's 2004 Pluriel doesn't have air con at all. You can live without it, even in hot ol' Frogland.
I'm sure you can fix up some sort of fan affair, even having two smaller fans as some cars have.
Kit car builders have to get up to all sorts to do this.
Best of luck.:)

I thank you for the correction. I did not realise CC included phosphoric acid as opposed to citric acid...every day's a school day 🙏

PA will indeed do the job well...this has made me wonder what percentage PA/vol is CC?

Sounds like a car you don’t need;).

So we went and did some shopping this afternoon, AC in the car :vb-cold: . Had to get some salad stuff as run out of fresh, (no we don’t grow anything) so fully stocked and stopped for grub at our favourite place on way home:).

Sat outside writing this (2hrs ahead of most of you).
I wonder do I or not?;).
