Howzabout being told you owe £50k tax on a house sale you did SEVEN years previously?? It happened to us!
The dude is a scammerHow does that work then & how would anyone else know the seller had tax issues.
Even so if paid by PP gift or not it still goes into your bank unless you send it to someone else
or buy somit, its all traceable regardless, but once its gone friends n family its gone.

I have a "friend" who the taxman is chasing for unpaid tax and they ask for any payments via friends & family so they don't get charged Paypal Fees and it shows as a "gift" on their account.Deffo points in that direction I hope no-one gets done over. I did report it nowt they can do tbh.

For some reason the tax office must have just been scanning through house sales and came across mine. It was my only house but issues with the land registry made it look as if I had that and a half share in W's. So they reckoned it was a second home and thus liable for tax.How does that work then & how would anyone else know the seller had tax issues.

Public agencies in the UK do try it on. I had something similar when my mother died. She didn't even own a house and merely had a few thousand in savings, but I got a number of very threatening letters from the 'Recovery from Estates Division' over a period of about a year. I chucked them in the bin and after a while they stopped sending them. It looked to me rather like somebody had gone through all the grants of probate and was doing a bit of speculative invoicing. There was clearly no infrastructure or mechanism in place to back any of this up, because it's now nearly eighteen years later and I have neither paid any money nor gone to prison. For some reason the tax office must have just been scanning through house sales and came across mine. I had to employ a specialist tax accountant. The tax office immediately were forced to drop their demand by £40K and then a bit more but I still ended up paying £5K.
Luckily our dog had 7 pups and that just about covered it.
They cannot be trusted even when they tell you stuff over the phone.
The rest of your post I don't know about as I never use it.
W does all the buying viaa PP etc and she has never mentioned it. I'll have to ask her!
It infuriates me that the tax offfice is one of the few, if not the only, public bodies that you cannot take to court.Public agencies in the UK do try it on. This is why I have a dash cam , among other reasons.Oh, forgot to say....
I cannot beleive what I saw with my own eyes this morning.
Traffic waiting patiently at Red temp traffic light.
Motor-cyclist comes along and sneaks to head of queue, road is clear so he goes through the Red light.
Car coming the other way on his Green light so M-Cyclist goes up onto the pavement to avoid the car and then back onto the road once the car has passed him.
There is never a policemen around when you need one. People complain about Bicyclists but that's just bonkers!

Well I can sort of understand it the UK is no longer in the EU uk vets can not fill in EU pet passports and vice versus the list goes on !!! And on as the UK is now classed as a 3rd countryTalking of fury.
So often over ere they demand you put a Frog mobile number in an order for summat over tinternet.
I'm trying to buy a bog cistern off Leroy-Merlin.
They yhave both internet address and home phone or "fixe" as they call it. but oh no, you've got to put in a mobile number, either French or Spanish or a few other European countires but not the UK.
I managed to get through to a human bean eventually who kinda understood. First thing she said "Can't you come to the shop?"
"Wot?" (it's miles away) Albi For flip's sake.
Eventually said bird told me someone else would ring me "before 2200 hours".
