Nah. Esso Blu. For those useless paraffin heaters that we will be rummaging through our sheds for this winter. Anyone remember the stick on bullet holes for yor windscreens?
When first married to my ex, one of those pariffin heaters, the big rectangular ones was the only reasonable way we had of keeping warm as we daren't turn on more than one bar of the leccy fire.
We sat on the floor huddled in front of it with a duvet wrapped round us watching black and white telly, cos we couldn't afford colour neither. Rented bungalow, damp, drafty and with no heating other than electric.
So the paraffin heater made a big difference, once I prised it out of my dad's hands!
Bullet holes came in two types ones for the body work and ones for the windscreens.
I remember them being demonstrated on Blue Peter wih JN and/or VS or both driving Mini(s) with them stuck on around the studio to a background of machine gun and rifle fire.:):):)

Autumn in the Scottish Highlands
Boooful!!!!!!!

Have just come in having finished mending the bit of fencing we opened up to get onto the other part of the land, in the heat, feckin horrible job. Then used my new cheapo plant sprayer thing to top up the gearbox and it didn't take much. Glad that's done.
Feeling a bit unpatriotic doing all this while Liz's ceremonies are all going on but needs must, I am hoping to catch up on it all later. W is packing clothes while watching it upstairs.
I have a feeling it must be getting full coverage on Frog TV too as it is deathly quiet out. (Glad my use of the chainsaw won't have disturbed peeps. They being too far away.)
So I raise a glass of "CH'TI" beer to our lovely queen, (feeling a bit tearful now!)
:(:(:(:(

Who remembers the 'invention' of Magic margarine in the late 40's? With butter being rationed and dripping the only alternative to spread on the bread, then this, although in very limited supply and then only sold to regulars/favoured from 'under the counter', was the welcomed alternative.

No, I maybe old but not quiet that old. But I still know Mum & Dad will save the dripping (seems less on the lean is better now) But it was bread and dripping on Mondays for them. I could never quite get the taste for it;).
I do remember Mum using Echo marg (was it called that).
