guday all!
Wifey in a flap cos she let her iPad run down overnite and now it don't appear to be taking charge altho it goes (faint) bong every time the plug to it is switched on.
I made her plug it into a socket on the wall rather than an extension.
Paid the French house insurance.:eek::eek::eek:
Once she'd gone to sewing I'll start on the lawnmower again.
Chiro yessdi thinks I am making progress albeit slow. At least blood flow to the hand is improving.
Have a nice day folks!:):):)

Don’t worry I’m not going anywhere just loading from quay side. Still busy though with campers going over

There were a few non uk plates leaving but most were campers(dragging big trailers) Now how do the visas work if you are travelling round? Do you still need 1?
We only know, in any depth, about the 3 to 6 month visas, as those are what we are going for.
If you intend to only stay for less than 90 days, you don't need a visa provided your whole stay including going from country to country within the Schengen area is less than 90 days. So if these bods in their campervans are doing that they'll be OK.
If they are going for longer than 90 days they'll need a long stay visa 90-180 days and this covers them for any Schengen country, this is what we are applying for and is quite involved as you have to say exactly where you will be staying and prove it, proof of income, prove you have enough dosh for the stay, prove you've paid for the accommodation and the return tickets, show you have the correct insurance or a GHIC card. Etc Etc Etc.
Our appointment with the Frog peeps in Wansdworth is for the 18th of Feb so we'll know a lot more about what else they will be asking for after that date, above and beyond what we are already having to supply, both originals and copies of.

If you want to go for longer than 180 days it is assumed you will be applying for a "carte de séjour" i.e. right of residence.
Once you get the visa for this you are supposed, within the first two months, to apply for the "Carte".

We may do this although there are tax and other considerations to be taken into account. If we do then it will make travel to and from much easier and we won't have to repeatedly obtain visas although the first is the hardest and later ones are like renewals.
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

So got the circlip off and started to remove the spindle, first one then the other ball bearing fell apart.
Spent a bit of time ont pooter trying to see if anyone listed the bearings for this but obvs they don't as it's so old hat.
Unhelpfully there are no serial numbers or stuff etched into the bearings so I'm going to have to go old skool and measure them.
I think there is a bearing place not too far away, (haven't been to one in AGES), the last time I needed one, (for a big electric disc cutter) I just ordered one on line and it was fine.
So here are some pix cos I know you like them.
Before I started getting the spindle out

One end of the spindle before further dismantlement. The end cover and a few balls have gone missing!

And here it is mostly apart.

The two inner races are still on the spindle, this one will be harder to get off than the other.

So I suppose I had better get on and measure them up.
Have yet to look closely to see if I can measure the inner diameter of the hard-to-get -off one before I try to get it off, in case I feck it up in the process!

Have fun folks!!!

A stroke of luck - for a change. I was returning from my lunch out with a couple of friends when, driving past my usual LR dealer, my car flashed up a red warning of 'coolant level low'. I thought this was strange as I have just had them do a full service so I drove in to ask as I didn't want to run the risk of an engine disaster! It turns out to be a fault in the sensor in the coolant filler bottle so that will be another quick couple of hundred spent. :rolleyes: Could have been worse. :)
