I have pestered them to bring back the Freelander 2 but ah dun't think they will. I dun't think a Freelander 3 will ever happen. They chose to brand their vehicles int 2 ways. Range rover and discovery. Helps them keep product identity going.

Interesting to see the approach of the marketing "people" at JLR. It takes a special kind of arrogance to assume that you're so damn desirable that you have no need for an entry level vehicle. Either that or, in their heart of hearts, they know they'll never make another product as good as the Freelander. :D

I think it was the later, knowing there couldn't be a betterer vehicle than the FL2. LR kept the end of FL2 production fairly quiet. There was a small celebration at the end of production and it got a small amount of media time but they didn't want to take away any media time from the new Disco Sport coming out.

Problem is they have to follow what buyers of new vehicles want. If they don't they will struggle. The prices have been rising over the years but some of the key desirable features of the FL2 only became available on the Disco sport further up the model list. Been a while since I looked at them so it may have changed a bit now. But still a very eggspensive entry into LR ownership.
