Well we went out to our anniversary lunch and the people at the restaurant treated us like long lost family.
The food, drink, service and setting were superb as usual.:):):):)
Much enjoyed.:D:D
So on our way beck we decided to call in a the nearest Landy garage, the one that repaired my Disco after the accident.
It looked closed, but the name was still there on the letter box.
As I was looking at the closed gates and the letterboxes a woman came out of a house behind the gate and told me the news.
They no longer operate as a garage. The one and only mechanic has cancer and is unlikely to survive. There is very little business as so many people are either getting rid of their Landies, due to the pressure of the new MOT, similar to ours in that leaks are a problem and the pressure to not buy them but to go for electric, hybrid or the more modern ones which they won't touch, nothing beyond TD5, (like so many other LR indys I know back in the UK.) and the mech was self-employed. Employing someone over here is such a pain. and very few know Landies.
So there are just a few peeps with Landies who are hanging on to them.
He also can't get hold of old ones to break for this reason.
They are also on holiday for a week.
BUT he does still sell secondhand parts.
So, I have to get my big boy pants on and really decide myself what bits I need. While still keeping it on the road as it's the only car we have over here and we cannot walk down the mountain. No buses neither.
If the sh!t really hits the fan neighbours will prolly help to some extent and maybe we could hire a car.
But it's all a freakin pain in the ASS!
We've got about 4 weeks left here, but the first week will be out if this guy is on holiday, and getting new parts out here will be a terrible problem I suspect.
Can't stay over our 90 days or we'll get our passports stamped "illegal" or summat which would really feck our applications for long stay visas.
Total sh!tstorm. Not funny. :(:(:(:(

Cheaper in the long run to hire a car ...

Cheaper in the long run to hire a car ...
For 3 months?
Trouble is we still have to get this one back to the UK.
We have hired cars in the past, for stays of a week or less, and got ripped off hugely twice, once, just like that an other time after Pat had a breakdown miles from here, Le Mans.
Each time it cost us nearly €1000.:mad::mad::mad:
So no, I think I'd rather buy a French car!

If you mean to run around in while the car is somehow being fixed, yes we may well do. But we'd still need someone to take us down the mountain and in the summer months hiring a car often isn't that easy.
Leclerc do ones where you pay very little to hire one but they sting you for the mileage. Neighbours of ours had to do that for a while. But they'll be very popular, so may be hard to get hold of.:(

Well up very early to take the dog to the vet.
We also gave them the English EU vet passports for them to give us new French ones.
€15 each!
Compared to £100 each for all the ones we have had up to now in the UK.
Boy do Brit vets know how to rip us off.
Just hope they have all they need but they seem confident.
Very quiet here with just the two older dogs.
Weather grey, misty, but at least dry.
So autumnal, what an awful year for weather, at least so far, over here.
Have a lovely day folks.:):):):)

Isn't it amazing just how empty a house feels when one of the members is missing.:(
She is just so much livelier than the others.
When they are all here they ALL get under our feet, it is as if she encourages them to move around etc, and compete for attention, but now they are both asleep!
But yes, human or dog, their absence makes the house feel empty.
Reminds me of the song "Empty chairs" by Don Maclean on the American Pie album. although his chairs were empty cos of his own stupid fault!

I am sure the crew would like before and after pics.

A) to see the diff.
B) to prove you actually do anything:D.
C) what is this "Iron Oat" you speak of?
J
A chemical to remove well stuck on contamination. Often mistaken for a general wheel cleaner. Its a once or twice a year use type of product across all surfaces..

Before pic's will be a problem. Wheels are now done.

Sprayed it wiv snow foam yesdi after polishing and coating the last two wheels. Then went round all the joints and corners wivva fine brush to agitate the muck. Rinsed then gave up assit was gerrin dark. Wheels were also sprayed and rinsed wiv some stuff that makes muck and watta rinse oft betterer int future making it easier to clean next time.

If you’re not careful you going to double the value of your freelanderer
