I knew about the PE, but not about the music, so we have that in common, in more ways than one!
So what instruments do you play? Brass, guitar and a bit of keyboards in my case. But used to sing, a LOT. Bet you do too. Love a Welsh choir.:):):):)
No instruments - no interest! I did it because I had no knowledge and felt that I was missing out, at least on the basics. My subsid. interest has always been practical crafts (of a wide variety) but I knew I would be very bored if I chose to do that as a subsid as I probably knew more than the old chap who was the Head of that department!:D:D:D

I had an email from the company that I've got an interview with on Thursday to ask me if I'd mind that the length of the interview changed from about 45 minutes to 2 hours as they'd like me to complete a case study prior to the interview itself.

I have the feeling that I'm not going to enjoy this interview.

Sounds like someone looking for a free case study to me. Bastids.
Yes, I'm a cynic, so shoot me :p

Depends if the job is something you are interested in and have any knowledge about.:)

That's interesting! don't know how you managed to qualify in music then, unless all you had to do was to attend the lectures etc.
As a music student I was allowed free lessons on an instrument which was not my main one. That was the trumpet and as, beyond chord symbols, I couldn't read music and play it for the guitar, I chose to go for that. The guitar teacher and I met up, we got our instruments out, he asked me to show him what sort of thing I did, we jammed together for the rest of the hour, then he laughed and said "I can't teach you anything!". So I then got free piano lessons which weren't much use either! I still can't do both hands together much from music, although I do, playing in my own way from chord symbols.
You and Wifey would get on, on the craft front. She cannot sit still and watch telly for instance unless she is sewing, knitting, cross-stitching, quilting, etc etc. and as a guider, she used to do all sorts of other craft stuff which she has kept up long beyond being a guider, which she packed in long before I met her. And she can play the cornet! not that she does much nowadays!
Sometimes wish I had done "resistant materials" instead of languages. But I had no qualifications in it. Used to love covering the lessons and chatting with the teachers down there. Once in a blue moon they'd even seek my advice about a carburettor or something, which I found flattering. (They knew about my kit cars as I used to drive them to work.)
Funny old job, eh?;)

I can understand that. But it does seem like they are taking you very seriously. Do you know if it will be a sensible sort of IT bod interviewing you or an HR w@nker? Or both?
At least they are not sitting you down with a wodge of psychometric tests to do before even clapping eyes on you. Which happened to me once!
(I started them, after about 1/2 an hour I stopped, realised what I was doing, got up and walked out. Wasn't the only one. we didn't know each other but all shared a silent moment of grinning at one another while making the old screwing-the-forefinger-into-the-temple movement!).
Best of luck with it mate. :):):)

2 hours id tell them my rates are 45 quid an hour :D

The interview will be with local IT seniority, local HR staff and head of IT who happens to be based in the far east via Zoom.
Big guns then, from the land of the rising sun, etc.
Sounds like the job is more important to them than the job title would sound ordinarily. Doesn't sound so much like an "Administrator" to me.
But then I have no idea, obvs.

I was thinking the same thing when I found out that the head of global IT was going to be (remotely) attending.
Anyway, nothing ventured, nothing gained. ;)

As a PE specialist I was not expected to do another subject - the main subject was far too broad. The second subject was just a couple of hours a week 'for development' although it did count as a teaching qualification. Remember this was in 1962! The days when Specialist PE Colleges (affiliated to the universities) were the pinnacle of the qualification - the course was always a year more than a Teacher Training College one was. There were no optional lectures! No social life whatsoever! Things were very, very different then! All changed in the seventies(?) when the colleges were absorbed into the universities, and we all know what has happened to many uni. courses over the years. :(

WOW!
Never knew that!
So much you could open my eyes to now!
My stepson did a degree in Sports Science at Loughborough then his PGCE in Swansea, I think.
I trained at St Lukes and although famous for its PE teachers etc, they all had to have a second proper teaching subject. most seemed to be Geography or English. Although my good mate did Maths.
You mention a Teacher Training college course. Did you mean a Cert Ed? Cos at Lukes we knew a few people doing a BEd and that was certainly 4 years, with far more TPs than we did. Still, at the end of the day, the same length as a degree then a PGCE. (Unless you did languages which entailed yet another year abroad.)
I did work with a lovely lady who had a Cert Ed. Brilliant teacher. But she never did A level, and didn't want to either.
It sounds a bit like the the TT students my Granny used to house in Hull, all good catholic gurlz! But they seemed to have a bit of a social life. One of them taught me the Twist, and that was all before 1963 cos that is when I left Hull!
No social life? How did you survive?:(:(:(

Evening all.

Anuvver boring day but at least it's sumfin to do all day.

I found out today that as well as having to use a punching in/out timecard that they pay the staff weekly! That'll screw up paying my monthly bills somewhat.

On a better note, I was working with a bloke today who spoke and acted quite like Borat so that was fun. :D

Did your Borat mate introduce you to his sister? If so, would she wear boxing gloves for you?

can you bring your own biscuits?

My case study would be why do people who bring crap biscuits to a meeting always try to nick my dark chocolate biscuits.
