What do I need to remove it just so I can go prepared? Be a shame to remove it with with a lump hammer and punch

Haha quite simple once the door card is removed...need to remove the lock actuator 4 x10mm bolts
then undo the 2 connecting rods clips with a flat head screw driver, then remove the 2 x 8mm nuts on
the inside of the handle, a bracket goes between them & the handle will come out quite easily. :)

Tonight's feast will be a home constructed sausage pizza where the sausage element is local butcher's sausage spiced with fennel for an "Italian sausage" taste.
Sausages are skinned and the innards mixed with ground fennel and then formed into tiny little disc patties and fried.
Set out on top of a plain store-bought cheese & tomato base with the easily removed cheese taken off, sausage added then covered up again with the cheese plus MORE cheese.
A bit of side-salad to go with and Bob's yer uncle. Lush!
Argh, you had to go and ruin it with a salad....

;)

Parting off is the other thing that can cause problems, your approach should help.
I am fortunate to have a rear toolpost so it is solid and does not over hang.
Have fun!!
I went out to the "shop" for a little play with the lathe.
I was disappointed to find the compound/cross-slide moved far too much on all parting attempts. I could see it visibly "dancing about".
I have tightened the gibs on the cross-slide and it certainly feels much "TIGHTER" but at what point does tightness induce early wear/unusable action I wonder?

Heavnin' all :)

Been out all day helping peeps because of the snow on me Island.
Spent most of the day assisting in the control room but went out for a drive in a fender 110 (with a new galvanised chassis) laters on to transport a community nurse to a patient.

The first beer tonight didn't touch the sides so I'm having a few more to see if the same thing happens.

That sounds like a day very well spent. :)
