Yeah, I do know that, but he seems to go to Oban every now and then and the bush telegraph seems pretty quick.
It may even be on their local news, I'd a thought so! Put it this way, if the Isle of Wight had no power it'd be on our local news!!

Either the hamster that runs the island genny has died or everyone is too mean to put 50p in the meter ;)

I did a search on tinternet and found feck all.
Maybe my Gson has got it wrong and it is more local. but he ain't stupid, promise.

We have a submarine cable from the mainland to Jura then across to us. Every few years either lightening or a clam bo*at destroys it and they have to be made in the Far East or somewhere like that and usually takes 3+ months to make, then they need to get the cable laying boat over and calm weather to lay it. It never makes the news either but then we have our own power station that keeps us going.
Apparently it’s quite economical too as it only burns 21000 litres of diesel a day

What with all the windy up there I'm surprised that you haven't got windy mills all over the place.

Watcha making?
A custom washer to remove the backlash in the cross-slide. ;)
10mm ID, 13.8mm OD and 1mm thick (then hone it to perfect thickness (bit by bit) on on an oilstone).
Beyond this commonplace little "Chinese-Lathe" improvement (they all have this issue) and the better tools to make it a decent machine, there are no really pressing projects/uses.
I just wanted to learn something of the skillset required. I will allow me to make my own parts for my bike projects (is my hope). :)
