Just been ont scroofix and seen they've got some so I'll get a new one ordered.
As for the fitting, I'm thinking that because the cistern and basin are effectively separate fixings that I might be able to lift the cistern to get access to the bottom of the fill valve as it's got a flexy pipe feeding it.
Otherwise it's gonna be right awkward to get access to.
If you say so. :)

Wot can go wrong... Plenty ov vid's ont youtube ov changin syfuns.

You're like me but, no offence please, it is from the viewpoint of a mature mind who has experience of life, the problem of which we talk is youngsters who are not lucky enough to have this and who have grown up never having learned what 'risk' means.
At the risk of being even more boring than usual, tis the lack of pre-frontal cortex development, which is only to be expected, in the young. but in the old it is sheer bloodymindedness, or stupidity.

Damn....

After driving 40 miles to collect me diafram washer and then fitting it the inlet mechanism is still leaking very slightly and given the pressure of the water it's making a hissing noise inside the cistern. Whatever is causing the leak is very small as the water is coming out the form of a fine mist. I think there's more wrong with this than just a knackered rubber washer.

I might have to call a plumbder because if I start messing any more I'm bound to make it worse. :D
Then just order the whole valve mechanism, and a new isolating valve, off amazon or someone, like this.

Best of luck.

Morning All :D
I overslept AGAIN :(
The little buzzer thingy in my watch normally wakes me up, how I slept right through it I don't know, it is annoyingly persistent for a good 20 seconds.
Damp and cold out there, so I am staying in here. :)
Have a great day everyone. :D
Eye fink most peeps would like the idea of not havin ter gerrup when an alarm ses so. Enjoy it while yer can.

Mine goes off at 7.03am precisely, every day and in the summer it is 6.05am. How he knows the time with such precision I do not know but if I don't get up he will get his nose under my hand, arm etc, in fact any bit that is sticking out of the duvet, and 'throw' it up in the air with a very powerful thrust - he wants to go out!:):):)
