Many, many moons ago, I used to make ginger beer and made many gallons just to keep the 'plant' living, until one evening!! Me , mum and sister were sitting around the dinner table having a meal when there was an almighty explosion coming from the kitchen! I had a batch of GB brewing in one of those very old, large stone pop/beer jars which my aunt had lent to me, emphasising how to be careful with it as it was important to her - don't know why. The jar had exploded! It split right across the middle and the top half was embedded in the kitchen ceiling, the wooden stopper acting like a bullet!! I was not popular on any front!!!! End of GB production,:(
