I am always struck by the longevity of the Series and Defender models and clearly a properly maintained Land Rover can be kept on the road for a very, very long time.

But what about their less-rugged Luxo-Barge cousins the P38's, L322's and the L405's?

I will start, my "W" reg. P38a 4.6 Vogue has a massive 13,290 on the clock.
My Previous P38 4.6 HSE was a "T" reg and left my employ with about 120K on the clock, so I am expecting to get a few more miles out of this one before it expires in an oily heap on my driveway.
You hear of the Luxury Mercedes of old (like my old 500SEL) making it to over 500K miles; is the Range Rover endowed with similar longevity I wonder?
 
Bet it's done a few hundred thou on top of a breakdown truck though.
Ohhhh... don't. I suspect it is not all as it appears but would someone really go to all the trouble of creating a "showroom & crease-free seating" mock-up?
It is more pristine than anything I have ever seen before second-hand. Not a mark internally on the controls, leather, trim, anything. It's like new.
But....it could be a fraud. I really cannot tell.
 
Got a '99 with just shy of 230k on the clock, although it has just had a new FIP thrown on, I would hope that means I am good for another 200k. Although after the rad popped and slightly boiled the engine in 2014 (I think, it was either 14 or 15, but I am sure it was 14), I am ever so slightly concerned that I might get a head(gasket) failure. Touch wood, that almost 4 years later mean it ain't likely, but I still worry about it.

mine just clicked over 30k
 
My engine has got about 130K, transfer box is about 180K, no idea on the gearbox, and 110 itself has over 310K on it. I replaced the speedo as it stopped but keep a spreadsheet so I know how many miles each bit has done.

But it is not a P38...
 
Apparently there has been a previous survey of the P38's longevity and I am a dunce for starting a new one therefore.
My last P38 was at 119k with original engine & box.

Jesus! And I thought I was OCD for writing the date and mileage on each filter I replace.

Nah, you're OK. I write all that stuff down in the spreadsheet too. Mileage, date, parts supplier, make of parts etc. I only wish I knew what the gearbox had done, but I didn't take any notice of the 110's speedo that it came out of. Wish I had as this is a gaping hole in my an*lly retentive spreadsheet.
 
My 4.6 P38 was touching 190k when we parted, mind you.....it was on the 3rd engine & that was fubar'd
 
1999,2.5tdi. 193k according to its history on original running gear! Although reverse crackles a bit when used!!:eek:
 
97 2.5DSE, 170,000 KM
Cam chains changed @ 160K with other few bits. Autobox showing some issues with a thud from 2 to 1 downshift and with D to R too.
 
Hit 100k on Sunday
