Bit of a hysteric way to express I'm right, again:D

But you are not, different cars will have different numbers of nipples depending on the props or U/Js fitted. Just grease the ones you have. Some U/Js you can get have two nipples some have none. Depends what has been fitted in the life of the car. :p;)

Yes you are right druim I didn't relise the back prop had a slider in it so if uj with nipples are fitted 3 on front 3 on back un less auto then only two :)

The original question: How many greasing points, deserves a correct answer and not just what someone has on their car, so the answer
Grease what there is must be the right one, no matter the number;):p

Wouldn't like U/J's without nipples though.

Mines an auto:) 3 + 3

do you have a rubber donut on rear then ? Or uj's at both ends ? Of the rear

U/J's all over, see photos in post 37

Only thing I can think if is your prop and tb has been changed scrap that' becuse the front props are the same on the front petrol or diesel apart from the auto
The rear however I just looked up had a change over so I guess yours had a uj then they upgraded to a rubber damper so evebodya right :D

The rear prop on the 2.5 diesel automatic has always had a rubber coupling. The petrol engined cars and diesel manual never have. There has always been a sliding joint on all rear props. Would be an interesting ride if there wasn't.

Well, i have 6 nips on mine & thankfully whoever fitted them made sure they all align so much easier to grease in one go. :):)

Afternoon all,
Sorry to resurrect this thread but-decided to grease the nipples this morning on the p38-never done it in 8 years. Got underneath and could only find 3 nipples-thought it a bit strange-greased them up with the gun and then cleaned and put everything away. It then dawned on me that there is also a front propshaft...............................

Hi Gents

I tried to do this and the grease just squirted out and didn't enter the relevant UJ.

What is the procedure, do I just need to take of the grease nipples and clean or replace them? The gun seemed to seal ok, but it was a bit of a cheap one.

I take it you have to jack it across the axles to gain access to all of them

Thanks

Ash

Gun not sealing. If the nipples are blocked and the gun is sealing the lever will lock before grease will squirt out. I had to grind the sides of the grease gun to get it onto the nipples fully.
No need to jack, just roll it forward or backwards a couple of feet. Jacking across axles will just spin the wheels, it will not turn the props. If you don't want to roll it, you need to jack one front and one rear wheel.
