I got a 86 110 with a 200tdi slapped in it and it will happly go 80 all the way down the motorway with a full load in the back (5 peoples camping gear and 25 crates of beer :D), how ever the noise is awful, there is no sound proofing what so ever, all i could hear the entire trip was the air gushing down the raised air intake. Also its abit scary going that fast in a old van which needs a crap load of work on it.

Around 82 in my 08 Defender (on private land of course), would go plenty more but for it being restricted.

Chris.

The 110 sounded like it was going to blow up at 60  Would sit at 50 all day... Will see how well it goes with a 2.5TD that ain't buggered in it :)

Got a '96 110 300TDI with 250k (miles, not MPH;)) on the clock and it'll do 70 down the motorway no probs, although I tend to sit at 65 and let the world hurry past. :)

Don't tend to go any faster than 40 in mine, happy to report no problems maintaining that speed though

I normally do 60 - 70 in me 110 TD5 on motorways.
Will do 85 at a push, but gets a bit scary after that.
Got sound proofing in front and that makes a hell of a difference mind.

I chickened out at 70 in my 300tdi 90 truck cab.
She would do more but not with me in it.

1991 Def90 200tdi on 235/85/16 TR's = 60mph, plenty fast enough...

Would do more theoretically - but not (as per Natas) with me in it!

me 110 Puma will sit at 80 all day long and you can still have a normal conversation or listen to the radio.
me 200TDi 90 on 265/75/16 Special Tracks is unhappy above 65 but will do 75 if yer very brave and don't mind being deafened and losing yer fillings.

1985 110 with transit di , does 60-70 on flat, i have had 80 down a very steep hill on motorway, temporary deafness followed. Fookin slow uphill tho.

Mine goes like sh1t off a shovel up hills (1988 2.5td) albeit being towed by a 08 plate defender due to cam belt failure. But never the less, my speedo registered 45mph whilst I was behind the wheel so it counts!

110 mikey what kinda sound proofin you got? Is it engine side or cab side of bulkhead?

It's this foam mat stuff from

Acoustic Moulded Matting System

Cab side: covers footwells, transmission tunnel & seat boxes.

Will get similar for under bonnet, second row seats & rear load area when I've got some cash.
It does make hell of a difference mind. Talk & listen to stereo @ 65 no probs.
Over 70 gets a bit louder, but tollerable.

wow and i thought my old dog ( ahem n reg 300tdi disco was slow )
i can get her up past 90 mph and she will hold 70 longer than me lol
and the engine n gear box are standard n well worn:croc:

And your point is?
