Hi and welcome. Used to have same message but this was due to old battery changed and problem solved. Stiff selector handle don't know ,more knowlegible guys will be along soon
Try posting this in Range Rover section will get more replies:):)

Tin worm on a P38? Nope ;)
Not in the defender section now you know:)

Welcome:)

Why are you moving the selector?
When was the last gearbox service?

Anyway enjoy:)

Welcome to a Landyzone :)

From sounds of things, I’d say take it to an independent local garage and ask them look at gearbox for you. Could be just oil/filter change, blocked cooler or a few things. I presume you are not going to carry out/investigate yourself so trustworthy mechanic is way to go ;)

They are less grief than Discos, maybe not the V8 - some are good most are an eternal
Nightmare.

Im nearly burning my disco project every job has turned into another job an then some id like a v8
ive got enough hassle with what I have here atm, my defender superb & is so simple but not practical
for everyday use.

I’d have loved a Disco2 but I need it to drive not spend 8months pulling it apart and learning to weld properly  As a project vehicle it be great. P38 was cheaper comfier change to the defender.

The Disco's are bad for rust D2's chassis arse end falls off then the electric's go mental as you have a pond
in the footwells from the leaking sunroofs & it rots just as quick inside as out, on the plus side youl be a great grinder in
6 months smoothing out your welds :D
My D2 has a galvi chassis & so does my defender :) nuffing to say about my D1 :(

Hello, when you stop and try for reverse or park the shiftier is very hard to move compered to when it cold.
The gearbox over heat comes on the dash 1st thing in

Hello this is fun, Anyway when i stop and try to select park or any other gear tje sifter is very hard to move compered to 1st thing in the morning.
It comes on the dash gearbox over heat check hand book. Everything works drives will change gear fine.
One thing i have notice there no dip stick to check the gearbox oil, is that odd?

re checking oil levels early boxes had dipsticks later models you have to get underneath to check . When I had my gearbox changed had a dipstick fitted to make life easier. Need to follow Rave to check oil correctly
Copies of rave available in Range Rover technical section

I think a couple of gearbox oil changes and a filter would not go a miss here
