Is there a difference between the series III stub axle and the defender stub axle? Someone has asked me for stub axles to use with free wheeling hubs and though Kai has a couple on one of spare axles we are unsure whether they will be suitable.
 
just got on from a works meeting mucho laughs was had.
Er stub axles? Defender and 90 are i think quite different simply because one is designed for disk brakes and one for drums. Fitting of free wheeling hubs to a 90? there is some thought needed there and some machining. I looked into it myself a while back and decided not to bother more hassel that its worth.

hi all,hows everyone doing.i've not been well for the last week (had bad man flu) so couldn't come to pub meet,how was it?.
see there's a few of you going to whaddon on sunday hopefully i'll try and come along in my disco but not promising anything as i might be helping me bro move house.i flushed the cooling system yesterday and the rad on my disco and it is running perfect now,couldn't believe the amount of crap that came out.
 
this may seem like a really stupid question but will the wheels of a 300tdi disco fit on a 200tdi im only asking because i've just been offered some wheels and tyres but someone said there slightly different,im certain they would fit.
 
same PCD same stud pattern, only difference could be the depth of the drrive flange but if they are LR wheels they should fit ok. on the very odd occasion some aftermarket ones have issues but 99.9 percent they will fit.
 
Anyone got a hub nut spanner i can borrow? kAI'S mislaid mine and I trying to get the wheel bearing done for the morning.

Hi all i been looking at explorer map194 showing a number of lanes near Ardley and a longer one "back lane" a roman road are any off them restricted looks worth a visit does anyone know them

OK Gang.. here's the progress for the day. Finally managed toget the wheel bearing sorted; not going to go into details but it involved a hammer a pointy thing. I know it's not the right thing to do But I was running out of time and fast!

However, although we have cleared up one of the problems it hs not seen off the horrendous squealing coming from the gearbox/transfer box area.

I have done some experiements and it seems that the squealing stops if I stick my foot down on the clutch. Given that the proprs are still doing their thing and the bearings on the xfer box are still operational at that time; I can only assume that the thrust bearing has gone tits up.

SO! new clutch and bearing £74.00

BUT Should we fit it ourselves; take it to a mechanic; book it into Mr Clutch - OR would someone on here like to quote me a fixed fee for sorting it out?
