Here here DB, some folk just don't seem to have any common sense much less common courtesy. Different if you're in a group and have doubts but all say go for it, we'll get you out if you get stuck. But if you say to somebody don't do it you've got no chance and they proceed expecting you to pull 'em out the mire.... frankly that's extracting the urine a tad.
 
I give a tow to anyone i can help, and have got stuck in the process.Although it is usually me getting the tows....

Its time now to get serious about my own 4x4. I'm battling to decide between the Defender 110 or a Disco.

Know the feeling. Range Rover great most of the time but does seem to sit on its diffs or get cross axled quite easily. Rangies are however great for pulling with, just like the noise they make when you give 'em the beans!! Oh, and some of them swim too.

Towed a litle sj at bures didnt even feel like it was there, and the bloke said he didn think id get him out!Cheeky bastid.

I just dont like being put in a possition where I have no choice but to tow,dig somebody out when I would rather them do the same as I have and get their motor sorted 1st.
We all have little mishaps but when you go somewhere and you are expected to get people out then thats diffrent.
I have come a cropper in the past and my very dear friends have got me out and I will do the same for them time and time again but, if 1 of them turned up in a standard motor with road tyres on (not that they would) with no recovery gear of their own or even a slight clue how to get out of the mire then I would tell them to think again!
I dont spend hundreds on my disco so I can pull people out all day and if I knew I was expected to then I would have either turned round and went home or asked to be paid!
I think its taking the mick just a lot.
 
recovering people is half the fun, i love helping people that get stuck weather they be in a modified super offroader, or a standard disco on road tyres it doesn't bother me if they haven't spent a penny on there motor and i would never ask to be paid to recover someone when offroading

Fair play to you mate. I dont and never will. I think it just spoils my day out when all I do is pull people out.
Why should I risk breaking my motor?

I Help out occasionally if somone is in trouble but I make them sweat if i think they are idiots I have towed too many people that have had no Idea at whaddon. I get very suspicious when "people Help" they usually have no clue and end up making the situation worse or dangerious. We saw some comedians at Whaddon when Spyderman blew his rear main we all stood well back and laughed as they drove into each other trying to get unstuck that was after they pulled off the bull bar with the wire rope, and after they jump started the stuck car several times. The V8 has no power and was dead and they guy was saying how nice it sounded. Jai

Is whaddon full of clueless std motors then?Never been.As gman said its half the fun cos you get unlimited take the **** rights.Altghough I agree with jai some people are more of hinderance than a help-dead useless.:mad2:
