There's a lane in Stapleford Abbotts, just off M25 near M11, that defeated Goonarmy.
Had to be rescued by a L200:eek::hysterically_laughi

I think a visit to this place could be in order.Early March would suit

Could be worth a gander. March should be O.K. with me, breakages etc permitting. BTW is Thetford still a plan??

That sounds good, but how about a days pay and play in feb to bridge the gap. Is anyone else keen, and is Brick Kiln the place to go, or is there somewhere better !

I would be well up for a bit of p+p but wont be rescuing anybody on at's or road tyres. Got sick of it last time I went to whaddon.:scratching_chin:

Cheers, not much too it really. My Rangie has genuine Lucas rotor arm and cap, the cap was sealed with rtv silicone, I made a plastic splash guard to sit in front of the dizzy, the viscous fan has been replaced with electric which I switch off and then there is my home made B&Q special snorkel.

The big worry was how the door seals would hold up. Luckily I got very little inside so the ECU stayed dry. As I said before though it was a bit of a gamble, sphincter factor 10.

As for the black landy, don't know who that was, there weren't any black ones with us. Maybe Kris 300tdi, his is dark grey and yes, very tidy motor.

My apologies, I forgot to thank you yesterday spyderman, much appreciated.

Nice pics, got some good shots there.

Looking forward to the next trip already!!! If anyone does anything in between now and the trip and you want some company let me know.

For the guys with me today. The lane we went down that i said had just been re-surfaced, this what it was like before.

this one from a previous outing. could you not get a plastic tupperware box and put your ecu and relays in it and seal it up? i moved mine but just looks rubbish

No definately don't know who that was - before my time. As for boxing in the ECU, I thought about it but cant see a way of having 100% confidence in it so take my chances. In any event, I carry a spare ECU (and air flow meter) coz it's a Range Rover and you never know LOL!

To do it properly you would need to put it in a sealed box of marine standard and seal up the entry points for the loom etc.

Sounds like a proper job that does, the tricky bit is sealing all the holes for the loom, also you would need to mount the relays inside as well. Then of course you would have to take the seat out to mount it making sure there is enough clearance not to foul the mechanism. I don't do enough deep wading to justify the aggro.

I have seen a modification done where the ECU loom is redirected up under the dash, a hole cut through and the ecu screwed to the top of the dash. A bit untidy but effective.

Fair enough, I can see how it would stop being fun after the fourth time :D

Is there not a suitable site that has it's own recovery vehicles ?

Not sure mate. Its not a problem if the organisers scrutineer the vehicles arriving and turn away the inadequately prepared ones. The time I went it hissed down with rain all day and they were letting standard vehicles in on road tyres and leaving it up to visitors to do recovery!
Not my idea of fun:mad:
If we go out in a group and someone gets stuck then we get them out (eventually) but if somebody turned up in a standard truck with road tyres on then they would be going home.
I just dont get the ethos of some folk expecting to be rescued by others when they shouldnt be there in the 1st place. I know we all learn somewhere but driving into trouble with the hope that some nice fella (with substatially better equiped vehicles and lots more spent on it) will recover you from the big hole you just drove in (that you were told not to!) just aint on. And some even sit idle watching you do all the work
As you can tell I have had enuf of it :fighting:

Sorry if I sound harsh but these people and places really need to learn.
