Glenn Sorry mate only just got the message you sent last night. Not doing much in the way of lanes at the moment... trying to do the sensible checks and maintenance.

Might be up for a couple during the week if I can get everything done in time!

Just a quick post to say... after all your time and effort DB, you have earned a bloody brilliant holiday! Just hope you are gonna scope out a few lanes for next year's extravaganza!

Well, what a day!

Cleaned and polished the Rangie - it's actually quite a straight car under all the scratches and mud.

Spent the afternoon fettlin Ryders disco - oil and filter change; that was nasty in there that was. Blew out the air filter, greased the prop shfts and UJ's (well mostly) checked the dizzy over - vacuum advance not working, and could use a new cap and rotor arm. Oh and we changed the power steering fluid.

Then GibboPhil turned up so we went laning for the evening, will need to wash the Rangie again!

A good night out me thinks.

Oh and the disco's driving better than ever thanks to Kev and his ever handy hammer!

Lets just add to this a little.. tonight's laning was a spur of the moment decision to drive Jai's favourite lane... (in the bleedin rain) with a 2 fronteras (one on road biased ATs). Not the brightest idea I hear you say... but we did all get through it! (just)

Steppingly has been unofficially closed. IE the farmer has dumped his concrete blocks and half a tree in the way. Gonna take a whole lot more than a winch to shift that little bugger. Has to be said though, he has done this in the past and as soon as the byway dries out he removes the obsttruction, so although it isn't strictly the right way to do things, I think he has done it with the best of intentions and not as a protest against the 4 x 4s that drive it.

Woburn was interesting, a couple having a bit of a cozy up in the lane got the fright of their lives when 4 motors lined up in front of them and illuminated their motor with all their available candlepower on the count of three!

They were amused though and proceeded to follow us up the lane just to see what it was like!

Apparently their dinner was on the back seat... personally I didn't see her but I'll take their word for it!

T'was a fun evening, made all the more so because it was completely unplanned.

Hi Chris, sounds good. haven't done much laning for a while now, been busy sorting out the sj and still got loads to do. I'm having a long weekend in Cornwall the week before Salisbury, so may have a look at some of the lanes out that way and make a stop at Devon 4x4 on the way back.

Hey take a look around, maybe its a possibility at the end of the season or beginning of next. Gibbo Phil just came back from there but he couldn't explore (Mrs Gibbo wouldn't entertain the idea of travelling in a 4 x 4 and insisted that taking her Corsa was a much better idea! Personally I'd have set light to the corsa just to settle the issue but there you are, the younger generation, just no bloody sense!)

That did cross my mind but it would of been the moaning after to put up with. oh well it saved my petrol money

I'm at home in the evenings all week, they're all buggering off to Lanzarote tomorrow afternoon and it just leaves me and the dog at home for a week. DB is away, so I can't do any more on the Landy till next Sunday. Anybody doing any lanes this week coming and fancy a dodgy passenger, please let me know.

Next Sunday it all starts again on the Spydiemobile. Engine timing is out by 360 deg, so it's off with the timing case, belt, spin the pump and put it back together. Transfer box needs a new gasket as it's leaking into the Handbrake, will fit new shoes at the same time.
Electrics need finishing, then all will be good.

Did a few small jobs on the Disco today nothing major just re-routed the wiring for the CB to make it a bit more tidy and fitted a 12v socket in the load space to charge my jump pack and at some point a cold box when away camping. Hi Brett, are you going to have everything ready for Salisbury, just thinking it will be cutting it close with getting it completed and tested to iron out any problems that may be found.

Kris,
I think I'm going to have no shake down period whatsoever before Salisbury.
I don't think there should be any issues though. The motor runs with no leaks. Brakes, Gearbox, etc are untouched and were fine. I'm taking tools, DB will be there and I'm in the RAC.
I'm going.:D

Hello guys! Found an awesome track thru the mountains in Ireland. It goes up 365 metres then drops very quickly :) Awsome track that is covered in shingle. Wish you were all here coz you'd love it. On a family members computer at the mo so will catch up later in the week or when we get back.
