Hi,
I have been told this is the place to Introduce myself.
I am currently (slowly) fixing up a 1984 RRC, I live in hemel and was wondering where the best places to play with the Rangy would be when I have finished fixing her up?

Cheers Stu.

Hi stu
welcome lots to do in our area

What kind of things do you want to drive??

Greenlanes?
Trialing?
Punch comps??

Depending on what your motor is prepared depends greatly on your motor but there is plenty to do

I was planning on doing green laning and P&P days, done some up in stafford in my old shogun sport and cringed at every knock which is why I got the Rangy, something that could take the knocks and not worry.

I have got a 2" lift kit on her and put a 6ton winch on the front (board on e-bay) so is capable of most stuff. Running a 3.5 carb with a 3 speed auto, although I am looking at changing that to a LT77.

Will take me a bit to get her on the road but don't think there is much to do. Time and money more than anything.

Time and money Yep same here mate!!

Well you have a sorted motor by the sounds of things. 3 speed is very strong aswell but if you do ever change it let me know as I'm always on the look out for transfer boxes.

Right where do I start: We (herts laners) hold a regular pub meet to chat and organise outings every first Wednesday of the month in Dunstable on the A5. The pub is the white lion from 7.30pm everyone welcome. We're not a club just a local group on here.

Greenlaning,
Trialing,
Punch events,
Driverounds,
P&P

we're always doing somthing. Today there was a punch event which I had to miss but its always a laugh.

I want to be getting out and about a few evenings and weekends this month myself greenlaning as I've been out of it for a while been trying to rebuild a trials motor and been neglecting my 90.

Pub meet and the forum is where we let everyone know whats happening all is on the basis of everyone welcome there is no leaders or any "organisation" turn up have fun.

We stick to sensible groups and driving sensibly while greenlaing as we all should. We always help those that we can Herts laners have been to more greenlane oops rescuses than I can remember and always got the motor home safe and sound which is a testiment to all of us. P&P and comps we all have our crazy moments but I imust say a good bunch of lads and lasses always ready to help when your down and more importantly take the ****!!!!!

All I ask if you come laning and I know most other people on ere want your motor to have a secure recovery point front and rear. A tow ball rear is fine and jate rings is usually the cheapest option. If you have a winch bumper then you most likley have it all sorted anyhow.

Regards

Jai

The 90 is getting there, needs a wiper putting back on with an allen key some light lenses put back on and today saw the roof fully bolted down and rear door back on aswell as the storgae box half built. Should be out laning a few evenings next week for sure!! I drove the works car back through the back of Stevenage and whitwell and must get back up there to do the local lanes one evening.

I did try to think but nothing is coming to mind. Ring ashcroft or Kam failing that your supplier down your way. You need the correct shouldered bolts ideally slightly deeper shoulder as you have a spacer ring fitted.

Apparently (WE LZ) is a namby pampy greenlane forum that know it all la la. Well that'll be the last time I'll be going out my way to help them out when their in trouble. They can pay somone who (knows it all cos they obviousy don't) how to fix their own motor or sit there crying that it wont work.

Hilarious really

Right Next year I wanna hit the comps Hard, this year is a blowout the 80 is nowhere near "yet" but I will get the front axle on over next week and re design the HD axle at a later date.

Next weekend I'll be out come rain or shine getting this thing bolted back together just watched a comp safari video of an 80 leafer and it was scarily fast.

Hi Kev, no it was the same hole I winches myself out of last time, not sure exactly where I lost rear drive, probably coming out of another bomb hole I think.

Sounds good, where abouts are you? I have just started a job at Potton End which is where the Rangy is but I live in Nash Mills. Hope to have mine running within 12months but not as I want it:D:D:D

Moving it was fun :)

Looks like you had fun, I live in Woodhall farm and work on the industrial estate.

The 90 lives!!

Somehow I have no idea how but my main earth lead wasn't
Connected I haven't touched owt for months and it was disconnected not broken off so fook knows how it's been running and driving about!

Albeit a bit noisy!! Got a drum on the roof rack and the rear springs need to be stiffer or the hardtop but slowly slowly!!

That used to happen on the old discos a lot lots of fires erm I I don't
Think so because the cable usually swells the
Plastic Liner and goes stiff actually surprised how good
My hand brake was after its
Month lay up.

I must check I must have another earth point from the battery but
It Must Be fubar now as if there was one it didn't wanna start this eve!
