I know I've posted it before but this REALLY Appeals!

I know old Leaf springs and 80 inch won't be much good but certainly a laugh to compete against these machines!

We have a winch fitted. Wiring was done in the dark but it hasn't got much OOmph! I will have to do all the earths and main wiring because I think there is some resistance somwhere causing it to be really slow.

Also need a new remote because its had its day the plastic pistol grip and top housing has turned crumbly in the sunlight and all broken up. But we're getting there!

I do have time for the pub meet, but I don't have a day off for about 3 weeks now I think.. that means 1 day off in 5 weeks!

Brett there must be a mistake... that carpet isn't very red :D:D

Ryder i popped round to see you earlier but you was out so i left the pipe tool on the front seat of the disco, tried to phone you a few times but had no luck
Thanks Phil,

Dont know why the phone wasnt working though... we'll check the number you have next time you are over but I am sure you have the right one!

Well I finally have access to a workshop! Big fecker it is too! This means we should be able to work through the winter rather than chickening out like we did last year!

OK it is not mine... but the owner says I can use it if I do some work for him on his 'puter so fairs fair!

It means I get somewhere to fit my super dooper new tracking units too! Quality!

Well well... seems I have just acquired a feckin great dolly anorl! (Not the inflatable kind!) From reading up it seems like I can't do an awful lot with it... will need to check out the brakes if it has them... but I am realiably informed it was used for picking up luton box transits. Could be useful... only thing is I want it to pull my disco over to the workshop and back... but without my disco to pull it with!!!! Ah well... be shouting for a tow in the very near future then!

Ryder sounds good.

I think really its only any good to move vehicles to a safe place. Vehicles must be taxed and I think insured and it shouldn't be used to tow anything anywhere only to be used to move vehocles to a safe place i.e a lay by or whatever. What you get away with is up to you. I know a guy used to drag his trialer to and from events which was indeed road legal but was not taxed and he was told to leave his motor in a layby until he could get it recovered by the nice plod. He now has a trailer. I remember the phone call well Sunday evening after a comp. Do you have a trailer I can borrow mate??

I think he went down the road of trying to get the vehicles brakes to operate via a cable thingy but he went for a trailer in the end.

Towing dollies are "recovery" devices. With or without brakes.

They are not allowed to be used for transportation purposes.

Transporting a vehicle without tax, insurance and MOT can only be done when ALL wheels are removed from the road surface.

These things are fine but are often more of a pain in the arse as far as permenant 4 wheel drive is concerened. As at least 1 prop shaft needs to be removed before it can be towed.

The only advantage these things have over a tow rope is the person being towed need not be in the vehicle or competant in any way.

Have used them before though and can make a long distance recovery possible and only take a fraction of the storage space needed for a regular large trailer.

keep it in good nick though. The small wheels and bearings tend to give out quickly with the weight of a rangy or disco on them!

and while I'm feeling poetic..

There once was a woman named Jill
Who swallowed an exploding pill
They found her vagina
In North Carolina
And her tits in a tree in Brazil
