Ow Just got back from the works Doo!
I drank more beer this weekend than all of last year! No sleep and lots of barely dressed ladies, what a good weekend!

I have a dvd somewhere of the gods must be crazy 1 and 2 the landy winch bit is good although the microlight bit gets me every time!

Popping drive shafts! Tut Tut! Take some lead off the right foot! I'm fitting my salisbury rear axle next weekend and shortening the propshaft, which will mean clearing out the workshop so I probably won't be about. I want to go to Whaddon soon to try and get up my nemisis and prove to the rangie boys that it can be done and done at a pace that makes it look easy! They all bottled it last time and was told not to attempt it again by Alf!

I have a midland alan 121 got it from ebay special offer at 60 quid, very good but no scan facility which is a shame. I cant fault it otherwise. Jai

Leonberger, Ive seen a rather sexy tubular rear bumper for a disco on an american site and i reckon its do-able with the right tube and a good tube bender and some 6mm steel plate. Got to get my thinking hat on this week ;)

Leonburger: setting the swr on the cb antennae is easy. Put a swr meter in line between the antennae and the rig. Dwitch the meter to FWD and adjust it until the needle is on the "set" marker when the mic is keyed.

Flick it to REF and key the mic.

The lower the reading the better but anything under 2 is acceptable.

Check it againsta the whole range of channels to be on the safe side. If the needle goes all the way into the red across all 40 channels then check your connections. For methods of adjusting the antenna length, check your particucular make, usually there is a grub screw holding the whip into the coil and this can be slackened off to allow the whip to be adjusted.

Any problems give me shout.

Cheers

Been looking at roof light bars aswell and they look well easy to make. Need to get hold of 6mm ali sheet aswell.

I've always steered clear of roof lights, I scrape the roof in lanes as it is. I'm sure they wouldn't last long. Besides mine doesn't go fast enough to need more lights and the winch bumper would sort anything out that I didn't see.:D

Nottingham was great and no hangovers, we all bowled into the hotel Sat morning at 4am after lots of beer, and again this morning at 2am, and I only spent 15 quid all weekend! Sat day time we did archery and quad biking I was so glad they never booked the offroad course was lame to say the least! but the company disco looked the part!

Discobasher, nip down to the roadworks on the M1 and nick a load of Armco, then just weld it across the front, back, both sides, underneath and roof of you Disco.
instant green lane protection, might weigh 4 tonnes though, but hey.

I want a disco to bash not a tank. Been scanning the web and found a pipe bender for around 90 quid. That will bend upto 3 inch tube so can make anthing with that. The rooflight bars that are out there offer no protection to the lights but the 1 i want to make will have tubular protection. Will be a proper job mate not like some of these 1mm thick bits of crap ive seen. Once i get the tools sorted I will be in for having a go at anything.
