Long time no speak from me!
And yes I still have my Freelander, although I thought I'd update you all.

About 3 or 4 weeks back, it got broken in to, I had my bag, purse and ipod taken. Which is fine, I had to replace the back window, and I've claimed my things on the home insurance! And also figured out my alarm has stopped working!

Then last week, my clutch went, everytime I stopped at a junction in first gear, and pulled away I had to hook my foot under the clutch and knock it back up! Then if I reversed in to the driveway, then went to straighten up, I'd park, but it'd be stuck in reverse, so the only way to get it out, was to stall it!
So I took it to the garage, got a new clutch, but whilst up on the ramps, he noticed, I had no rear propshaft, so no 4wd! So technically, it was my fault the clutch went for taking it off road!! (Also explains why I got stuck, well kind of!)

Now, it's all fixed, and I got it back yesterday, feels very strange to drive, it doesn't feel like the same car, but when I parked last night, my reversing lights didn't work, so the list keeps on coming!

Anyway, this car is on finance, and I'm writing to the garage I got it from, because they sold me a car of non merchantable quality, so I'll get every bit of my money back, and hopefully, the finance company should just give me the car!...Well, in a perfect world they should.
But with my luck, who knows?!

Anyway, I thought I'd let you all know, when I'm up and ready (And it's not wet!) And my car, fully works, I will come back out with you lot, and not be towed this time!

Becca.

Big thanks to spider for another fantastic day out. I've attached a few photos.

I've updated better quality videos from the outing on the 25th, and I'm in the process of uploading the videos from yesterday to http://www.vholdr.com/user/34517

hi rob its off church lane or church way in woburn sands i believe. Be caerful i drove it a few weeks back in the works car and I just learnt that it was TRO'd a couple of weeks ago but was due open soon. Not looked into it but worth checkin just to make sure. Jai

Sorry I didn't make it Saturday, sounds like you had a nice run out.

MOT is due this month so I'll have to see how it goes but hopefully will be out next time.

Phil is making full use of his RAC membership. Anyone know of a decent LT77 long stick for a 90 short bellhousing from an t
2.5na/td or 200tdi?

Ashcroft box 13 months and boom! Out of warranty by a month same as mine when mine died forever. I'm really not thinking Ashcroft are giving themselves a good name with these LT77's thats one I've had, one Phil has had and I have seen another go after 14 months. Think its about time I learnt how to repair gearboxes ourself and get some tools made cos with that rate of failures I'm sure I could make one last longer than 13 months. Unless they have a cunning self destruct mode that goes pop after 12 months to keep them in buisness.

Ashcroft have a great name and have always been good. Just these makes me think twice I have 13 month old gearbox in a box at my bros house that needs cleaning and a few bits and it'll be as good as new. Just need to make some tools and make it a mission.

Well when you are making better gearboxes than Ashcroft, I'll take one ;)

problem is Ashcroft are cheap, theyre well known and who else will you go to? Legs had a real bad name and has now gone. Its only a poxy Jag box its not as if its special in any way just need the right tools.

Well from what I have heard about the Ashcroft boxes I am now seriously considering a genuine land rover box, because blowing a gearbox in a foreign ****hole is going to cost you minimum £2000, and that may just be a get you home fee, so putting in an Ashcroft box that may only last 13 months is a totally false economy me thinks... Just need to find out if you can still get a genuine LR Box, maybe an R380 and just get the stumpy bellhousing from Ashcroft ??

Looking at the 4x4 is born dvd, Ashcroft are rebuilding the boxes properly using decent bits. The fault no doubt originates from the original designs.

Yes it's actually working nicely now, we drained the EP80, and a few buckets of metal chips, filled it up with ATF, and it's quite smooth now, still leaks a bit, may change the seal..
