Biggest problem is heat. Yu get ya swivels & hubs nicely warmed up then when they hit cold water everything contracts and opens up gaps for the water to be sucked in via capiliary action. Tis a bastid but nowt yu can do about it really.

A good handfull of quality grease is about as much as you can do really.
Did a mates 90 a few months back and the stub axle was almost worn thru and a nice deep black colour:p

Must admit since actually doing my berings they have been good. half the battle is listening or feeling for early signs of problems and the ammount of stuff we have been doing at pay and play and comps recently its probably worth a strip down every few weeks. Jai

Yea its serious prep for Comp safari racing you need a garage and time just to keep the mota reliable before even thinking about getting anywhere.

To finish first, first you have to finnish, as my Bro is always saying.

Hey DB, how are you fella?

Long time since we seen you; guess work getting in the way again eh. I've been a bit quiet myself, MOT looming and all that, I am quietly optimistic but I guess we'll see.

I do think that pattern parts are a total waste of money, a total false economy.

I would have to agree but with ageing motors there are times when its pattern parts or nothing, although I suppose there is always recycled/reconditioned second hand which can be another way to go.

Thanks for the advice folks.

The first we have off is not a rusted block. Kai has been able to seperate the component parts with a small hammer and is wire brushing the worst of the rust off. I will go at them tomorrow with the grinder and start repacking them methinks.

I knew this was going to be fun!

Hey Dan

Welcome back mate... been a long time and precious little sight of your good self. Love the overtime plan though. Just wish my boss wasn't such an asshole and would pay me some overtime!

Guess thats the trouble with being self employed!

looking for something with a little more ability in the mud. the main reason for going big is some increased clearance for the rear diff, but while im at it i would quite like a half decent set both for mud and visually. not bothered about on road abilities.
