I am thinking of a few basics to get and keep in the car when laning. Nothing too fancy but I wanted to know if a couple of shackles, a rope or two, a pair of gloves, some tyre weld, some WD40 and a torch would be a good start?

Spare Wheel - getting end of month
Jack - is the standard one OK?
Wheel Brace - as above
Tow Rope - got a normal one, but looking to get stronger/off road ones. Would appreciate advice on that
Recovery points - got
Shackles - on the list
Mobile Phone, plus numbers of us lot - got
Map - not got
Water - can get from petrol station before laning I assume
Basic Tool Kit - like a socket set, a hammer and a screwdriver?

I used strong self adhesive velcro to install my radio ,, works a treat and stayed rock solid green laning all day .... Just follow the pics , its that simple , and with a 7inch mag mount and a large springer ariel , It didnt even need swr ing lol i run the cable neatly to the front . and use ciggie plugs with adaptor to power everthing
It had a perfect SWR rating out of the bag after tested .. I used and Alan Midland 78 Plus ...

Also it all unplugs when not needed and the disco goes back to normal... lol so not seen and wont be stolen .

Kinetic recovery ropes are worth there weight in gold. If you have a spare 40 quid get one. They are great for recovering stuck landys :)

Just checked and there is a belt on ebay for a tenner. Got a CB and like water could get snacks before heading out.

I like the velco idea. Just the sort of thing I was looking for :)

Jack-the satndard one will do but bring some blocks to add height and act as a base in the soft stuff.Wheel brace-fine.Tow rope-normal one? What does that mean? From halfords etc?Get something with a very high rating. The procomp recovery straps done by paddocks et al are good.Get a decent length.Rather have too much than not long enough.recovery points, hope their decent ones. Maps-bout 8 quid a pop whsmiths, millets etc.water-for making a brew, adding to injun/washer bottle/anything else.Get a decent size bottle of supermarket mineral water suitable for all uses. And away ya go!

NOOOOOOOOOOO

Kinetic Ropes can be extremely dangerous and damaging.
I wont go near one. If both the stuck and recovery vehicle aren't absolutely built for using one, they'll just pull bits off with scary consequences.
If you're coming out with us, please leave the Kinetic Rope at home.

There only good if you know how to use them properly .. and they do have a usage life mate ..

Best to stick with purpose made recovery ropes for off road recoverys .. NOT strops ...

And lol i wash mine after every usage lo just to get all the crap out that you get in them after hauling yourself and other out the sticky stuff ..
