OK guys...

as promised I have created a secure area on my web site where vids can be posted without inviting stress from the antis. This is not to say that bad behaviour is featured on these videos but it is safer to ensure that the more violent/fascist elements (otherwise known as the Ramblers Association) do not have free access to movies that contain easiy identifiable info.

The URL to use is:

PM me for the username/password combination.

Anyone with a password is welcome to download any of the videos or images contained there.

There are a couple of good clips.. I liked the one of Glenn and capturing Leonburger's unfortunate collision was a little bit of history!

I hadn't realized that Leonberger had dinged the bumper, pretty unlucky to do it just in a rut. Mind you he does go for it a bit more now, since he's got the bug.:D

Jai, you missed a good one mate. I don't think your roof rack would have survived though. We only did 1 tough one and there's more still to do. We'll have to go back.
Is it moving day for you today? If it is I hope it goes well.

LIkewise Jai.... good luck with the move... I am about most of the day so if you need a hand with anything let me know

Its mental Moving its like all go then stop wait for solicitors to get thier ass in gear then go again now just waiting on them to get the key! Jai Cheers for the offers should be all sorted though but its much appreciated.

OK need some help advice etc please.....

THe range rover was fine, shifting through all the gears etc. One morning got in and stuck it in Drive and it wouldnt shift out of first for a while then it managed 2nd got stuck that was that. Once warmed up it sort of hits 1 2 but thats more or less it (may have got 3 once)

Have tried running it up through 1 2 3 D but no difference.

Checked fluid all ok but very dark, topped up a little just to be sure.

Spoke to one gearbox person and on the phone they say, it needs a rebuild..... The selector cogs? when cold are jamming, when driven a little they warm and free a little to allow 2nd gear but are basically breaking up...

The cost of a rebuild is probably to high bearing in mind the relative value of the car. Has 12months mot and everything works well on it....

Is it worth looking for a second hand box? or a recon one as teh second hand one may also be shagged?

Any suggestions of where to take it (is there a mobile mechanic on here that can do the job?)

Any suggestions on where to get a box.....

Help

Help

The colour of the fluid says there is something not good. ATF should be a light red/cherry colour. If dark it is clearly burnt and contaminated. Before changing the box, drop the sump off it, change the filter, re-assemble and fill with fresh fluid. You will need to drain and re-fill a couple of times to completely change all the fluid as most of it stays in the torque converter. this of course means having to drive it, so it may be a long slow process bu tcertainly cheaper than replacing the box if it does the trick.

Have you tried talking to Ashcroft Transmissions in Luton?

certainly sounds like its worth trying, i will call ashcroft also and see what they think. re the sump drop and re-fill any chance of an idiots guide to this step by step so i can do the subsequent ones on me own.....

thanks for that, been on the phone and it would seem that the first thing to do would be the oil change on the autobox, so will have a go at that on friday. fingers crossed......

If you want a good mechanic, talk to Discobasher... there are a load of really handy folks on here (classic_kev specialist subject classic RR, Jai_Landrover etc) But for someone who can actually do the job for you if it gets a bit too much.. DBs your man!
