Tha's right 235/70/16 Insa Turbo Dakars on standard suspension. Does quite well really. I also havediff guards and a heavy duty steering guard the only other thing really is my home made snorkel. It all seems to work quite well:)

nice one mate, thats pretty much going to be my formula too,
ive got a home made snorkel done, ordered a heavy duty steering guard, and diff gaurd front only, and some decent recovery rings.

how do you go about attempting to waterproof your ECU and distributer cap? and do you blank of your heater intakes somehow, we went wading on sunday and the water came through all the heaters into the car. knackered the blowers, but they hav come back to life now....
cheers,

also dont know if you saw my post in the RR section but out of the blue today its stopped shifting into to top gear, tried going up through 1 2 3 D but still no joy, any ideas? only obvious thing i know is wring is Exhaust has a terrible blow where down meets mid box
cheers

is your ecu under your seat if so unplug and bring the wiring up behind the radio etc and place on the dash thats what most ppl do if that helps if im free and around i could help

anychance letting me know where it is ur meeting to see if i can make it cheers

Once I get confirmation I will let you know. As I say I think I know where Kris will want to meet up, it is easy to find but just in case it is somewhere else I'll hold fire.

Hi all would love to join you to surry but really dont think my car will make it that far and back again let alone the lanes in between :(

Waterproofing ECU, not needed to so far, but I carry a spare. I don't have room to mount mine on me dash like Rangey suggested but I will find a way around it. You need to remember you will need to move the relays from under the drivers seat as well. Don't forget if you have ABS there is another ECU and relays under the passenger seat.

As for sealing the dizzy that's quite easy. First option is RTV silicon around the base of the cap. Works for me so far.

Second option is RTV and then vent the cap to your snorkel on one side and into the plenum on the other so that fresh air is continually drawn through the dizzy.

As for gearbox problem, no idea. Presume you have checked fluid level??

Not too bad at all thanks Phil.

Work is being a bit all over the place, the Rangey is sort of behaving itself and petrol has gotten a bit cheaper so all in all shouldn't grumble not that it
makes any difference anyway.

Hey ho, gonna get out of the office now, it is now way past closing. I do declare it is beer o'clock and I can hear my pint calling already:beer2:

Catch you all later.

Hi everyone, looks like we will be on for a good day out on Saturday, got most of the roots planned out and Dan is doing a recky Thursday on the lanes over his part of Surrey to make sure they are still in reasonable condition to drive. Shame one of the best lanes will be shut for some time, but we are planning to cover a number of lanes and make a really good day of it. Hi Kev, the meeting place will be the same as last time, it is fairly easy to find and gives people a chance to get a drink and something to eat if they want before we get out on the lanes. I will PM everyone on the list late Thursday and re-check it again Friday, if anyone is missed please PM me and i will get the details out to you. CHEERS.

thanks for the advice guys, so the wiring the ECU stems from behind the dash so i guess its a fairly straight forward task to disconnect and move to the dash, will look at that and see how scarey a job it looks.....
RTV silicon? is that instant gasket from Halfords and just simply seal the base of the dizzy cap shut? nice simple job i can do that!

re the gearbox not shifting, yep checked the fluid and its lowish, what is the gauge, couldnt see a marker, should it basically just be full up? if so will top it up and see what that does.

final question whats the general consensus when replacing exhausts? mines pretty rusty there is a gaping whole which has been patched and repatched... are there any stainless onesout there that will give me more of a V* soundtrack too?

shame i cant make the 22nd as its my sons birthday party, would have been great to meet up, please post some pics up

Hi Chris, what you got left to do with the Disco? I think Saturday is going to be a good one, hope you will be able to make it.

Hi Kris... reassemble the transfer box ( many thanks for the cd by the way)... tax the disco and insure it again. Oh yes and change the water pump gasket on the shogun but not sure whether i can use sealant on that gasket or whether it needs to be gasket alone.

REALLY want to come to surrey... if I can't drive I'll try to share the petrol with someone else!
