Bought V8 just now, only 8,000 miles on clock out of a 6x6 fire engine, has has hi-compression heads fitted, included in the deal gearbox and oil pump adaptor plates and engine mounts, whole lot £ 420 plus delivery.

Sounds like good deal to me, plus where do you find a V8 with only 8,000 miles on the clock that's obviously been well maintained?

Sounds like you got a great deal there. Are you going to have to put a Stage 1 front on to fit it all in or is there room?

I find myself in possession of a 200 tdi disco with a slightly reluctant starter motor... it goes with a whack so I guess the brishes need some attention....

Anyone got one they no longer need? Could do with replacing the starter and then repairing the old one since brushes are like rocking horse ****!

Ah that was Spydie said about 300tdi. I suspect not many 200's or 300's have any bodywork left to work with or enough to warrant the time and effort to weld them up properly

Will post photies tomorrow. Might nip over to my other tdi and grab the starter from that while mine is being reconned. It's in norfolk though so it is a bit of a trek to say the least!

Ryder break the other disco if all the bits re good tested working you can probably squeeze 700 or 900 worth of parts from it make the one you have 100% then you have a great start for zero outlay

I may well do that Jai - I do have some other options in mind as well though. Kai is progressing well with his games and mechanics and fancies hammering it a bit.

All options are open at the moment... Not quite as hard up as I was earlier in the year or even last year... Have a few additions to put on this one... the light bar and roof rack will go on... prob the front bar too... Will probaby not be seriously off roading this one though... definitely green laning... but for hammering up at Whaddon Kai needs another play thing and the other tdi may end up being that beast.

Actually considering buying a car trailer now tht I have something to pull it with

Fair enough!!!! I still say your be best off buying a mot failed V8 for £500 for whaddon and sell the more desirable bits from the 200

You may well be right, Jai... we haven't reached a real decision yet... but I feel duty bound to let kai have a major role in making the decision... he has been working so very hard at college and at home with his mechanics as well as the music... I just think he deserves the chance to make a decision and see it through to its conclusion.

Thats where you and me differ lol and i'm not a parent! so I could be so totally wrong however

Its his duty to work hard, he is doing it for himself not anyone else. I wouldn't give my child the chance to decide on the old one as it could fund a nice weekend away laning/camping for everyone.

All this said I've been rarther selfish this month and after selling a few bits have treated myself. Can't remember buying something nice New in a long time! So maybe im not the best to give out idea's Lol!

The new one is in Norfolk or the old one?
The guys in Sundon Park sell starters pretty cheap, probably cheaper the buy a recon one from them than the fuel you'd do going to Norfolk and back.
