:eek::eek::eek:

Errr....Um....

Taste it..!!!

Bitter sweet is coolant most commonly from the Heater Matrix O Rings, clear tasting is most likely rain water from the Pollen Filter housing(s) or Sun Roof Drains!

Dry it out, find the leak, as Wammers says cure it, and it wouldn't hurt if the BeCM has got damp to remove it and put it in the airing cupboard for a few days to try and dry it out!
Don't forget the A/C drains :)

ive chased the power from pins 4&14 which purple in colour to the back of the becm as i am no electrian are these the right colours for the pins 4&14

Yep both are Purple at pins 4 and 14...

It comes from a Single Purple out of Fuse 1 at the BeCM (Pin 7 at BeCM) and is then split via a splice (S216) somewhere along its length (or even two wires in one connection at the BeCM) into Pins 4 and 14 at the Instrument Binnacle.

ok while becm is out is it worth getting it checked out ?
If that is the course you wish to take - Rick-the-Pick (member on here) is the man for BeCM's....so much so he runs a business in Brighton called Callrova and he specialises in BeCM rebuilds, repairs and diagnostics....

He knows his mustard....

Try drying it out first, and if still no joy, contact Rick!

its not sweet lol
So we can probably assume it is rain water - common leaks are top of windscreens, pollen filter housings, sun roof drains, hole in floors!

Also possible outside chance of Air Con Drains as I was kindly reminded of a few posts back!

Oooooo, as much chance as any of the others, bitchy or what :D:D Happy New year to you and all others on the forum

So that proves the BeCM is providing power to the binnacle....but all the displays (well most of them) are driven from the BeCM via all the other wires...

Your cabling maybe fine and the cause is the BeCM being damp and throwing a wobbler...

Leave it a couple of days to dry out....now walk away and enjoy your New Year evening and day...then refit and see how it fairs....with luck no lasting damage to the BeCM but it all depends on how long it has been damp for.

For the braver person, you could open the BeCM and take a peak, and this could aid in the drying out process, but I must caution you on static electricity so should only really be attemped when you are wearing an earth strap! but others have had success.

True, but I would have thought the AC wouldn't be active much considering the current temp to produce as much water as the OP suggests!

But as you say as good a chance as any I guess...

Happy New Year to you and Yours also....:)

Unless the airing cupboard is very warm it will take more than a couple of days to dry with the lid on.

My A/C is never off, does it not remove moisture from the air inside the car? so 29.9 mpg on a run at 70 + is not a bad return for a weasel then :D

Aircon is always active if switched on unless the outside temperature is very low and yes it keeps the interior nice and dry:)

I thank you :) All the best for the New Year:D
And all the best to you too sir. Given the stupid location of the BECM etc, I think aircon on all the time is essential, just getting in and out in rain and snow makes the floor pretty wet, the aircon drys it out in no time.
