Well that's more like it :D I'll change the fookin switch...:p

I looked at the price of a new one and almost shat myself! 250 quid!!! For a tiny little thing made of plastic encased in metal! They are mental

I'll try a "pre-owned" one as the local Mercedes dealer used to advertise 2nd hand cars :D

Looks like I'll be visiting my mate Jarv then

I did a code reading (using my bluetooth OBD hoodgy that I read with my phone) and it said 4 faults stored. One being MAF, but it was brand new very recently, Bosch at a cost of 170 quid  Surely it has to be wrong! I'm betting my air leak is back at that stupid bloody tee piece from the IACV as it only really affects the LPG side of things and a weaker mix would certainly cause my missing under load feeling. The other suggested I have a 0200 injection fault (but LR fault codes for each individual injector is 0201 to 0208 I think...) could that simply be the engine had switched to LPG and the injector system was off? The others said something about power train which kind of meant both of the above just in a different way.

The only other thing is the ABS & TC fault when I reverse. I'm thinking bearing, but equally it could be the sensor doesn't "like" reversing wheels... Thoughts?

Soon as I switch off and restart the lights go off but the dash is still insisting on a TC fault. Where to start with that one?

I'm guessing all are happening at the same time, but unlikely connected then?!?!

No not likely connected, ABS sensor/sensors not engaged properly or dirty bad connection to one or more.

Thanks all for all the help, but Wammers, you know you da man

Joss, I think I know what's causing the ABS & TC faults...I steam cleaned the underside of the car after a mess of coagulated oil from a long time leak made it ;ess than attractive under there and she was due an MoT test the following week. That was end of June. It was about 4/5 weeks after the wash that these problems showed their head! Although, to be fair, I didn't steam clean the tailgate! My mate washed that 3 days before this fault appeared and he did use a hot wash now that I think back o_O He was very thorough as he's a valeter so blaming him for the lights whether or not it was his fault :p

Still. Do you want the latch if I have it?

ooh yes please, if it isn't too expensive (I've been signed off work for almost two years, hence the lack of money to buy a new one ...).

I can do PayPal if you can wait til Friday as that's when my pittance comes in :)

Ok went through my hord of crap. Found it. Let me check it this week and make sure it does what it’s supposed to do. Postage is fine mate. Gets you fixed. I’m sure I’ll need help from someone at some point from here. Goes around, comes around and all that.

You sir are a gent. I really appreciate this kind gesture. PM me when you've checked it all and I'll give you my email address so we can sort out all the necessary arrangements.

Thank you so much.

:)

Mate. The is e12 M535i, Fiesta, Alfa 155 and 156 as well. That’s the “electronicsy and random bit” pile. There are other much bigger piles :D

Yeah, the Alfa if you take your eyes off it in a stiff breeze.

The button and the latch work beautifully.

The problem appears to be in the switch "inside" the latch!

A thought has occurred, why won't the lights go off after 10 minutes with or without the latch switch connected? o_O
If it thinks the door is open, the lights stay on do they not?

You have a proclivity to state the obvious. Change the bloody latch.

I was merely replying to Brian that it's not the release button. But without trying to wind anyone up, why did they build it so that if the switch goes faulty the lights stay on all the time rather than go off after ten minutes? Seems a bit of a design flaw to me o_O

The P38 is one big design flaw mate ;)

Ha ha ha :D

You got me there :confused::p

But, you're right :eek:o_O:(

I think the reason we love these k'in things is everyone loves something flawed!

There are pretty girls and there are gorgeous girls, but the gorgeous girl with big nostrils seems all the prettier because she's slightly flawed...

So, by that thinking, the P38 is kinda pretty to look at, but it's mind is full of fucking unicorns and space ships :D
