Hi there, thought I would start a new thread with this as I caused the problem through trying to cure another. My 97 3.9 disco with single point gas conversion will now not turn over let alone start, I turn the key and all lights up, everything on the car works but there is no power to the coil to begin with ! the wires from the coil lead to a box on the o/s inner wing that is to do with the gas, it comes out of there PRESUMABLY to the switch/ignition key assay. I have checked ALL of the fuses that I can find and are ok. I need someone local to come and have a look and give either an opinion or help repair. I caused the initial problem myself by tripping something out but dont know where to look. If anyone out there can help or if I can phone someone on landline or mobile, it will be a great help and I can explain more by gazing into the bloody lifeless engine bay lol .... Please send me a number and I will call you .... thanks ... Paul.

Hi, does anyone know what I can expect to find in the black box that controls the gas ( the brain ) and into which the coil wire enters before leaving to go to the ignition ? Is there a fuse in there or an external inline fuse enroute to the ignition ?? .. thanks .. Paul.

Hi Bluea35, thanks for the input mate, it aint that though cause its been cold for a week, it aint run lol .... The alarm works fine as I have been using it off the key fob at all times but thanks .. Paul.

A whole load of trouble?

I already got that lol, a bit more wont matter if it helps me find a cure mate ... cheers .. Paul.

Might help if you state what lpg system you have and where you are, i dont remember having any black box 'brains' on my single point but it never went wrong for me to have a mess.

Id have thort if theres no spark its more to do with the discos electrics rather than the lpg system... good luck with it.

Imobiliser fault ? Can you please elaborate ? makes sense but will not come off even though the alarm seems to be working !.. Paul

Ows it goin?

Did you have any luck with voltage traceing?

I'm not sure how to do that......sorry. Did you check the starting relay?

Nick.

I have had the car running and up to temp, then temp wired the fans to run ( not to coil lol ) and it cooled it imediately, so the theory is correct !!!!! BUT, yes there is one ---- Can anyone tell me why I can start the car on the ignition by using a live feed from the batt to the coil but cannot start it by using a feed that comes on with the ignition ?? I need to get this cause I would have to go under the bonnet when I want to swich off the engine by disconnecting the hot-wire ( I dont mean the wire gets hot at all, just a figure of speech ). So what have I done, have I bypassed the imobiliser or what ??? I could run it like this but it would be nice if it worked conventionaly .... cheers ... Paul.
