Will check this tomoz.

Also when you put it from reverse to park it’s o worries making a grinding noise like the shaft is spinning.
no worries, just hope there’s something there that’s useful

ref the grinding sound I wonder if a driveshaft or Propshaft splines etc has snapped/ have heard a few instances where the transfer gearbox gets stuck into neutral , but of off could keep guessing till the cows come home

at least tomorrow once someone has looked over it and plugged a scanner in will be in a far better potion of what’s going on

indeed plse let us know how u get on

Need the codes read as its the 4.4 petrol V8 we can rule out an engine issue.
It's transmission or steering related do I understand correctly the lower control arms were replace then an alignment was done ?? If so was the steering angle sensor reset ?? Many places are unaware this needs to be carried out and in tight tolerance mode to boot.

hi mate

funny enough also thought that with regards to the steering wheel angle sensor , but then when the op mentioned a grinding noise if one of the driveshafts / propshafts have gone ??

also if that happened if the transfer box has got confused due to loosing drive on a CV joint and therefore lost all traction ??

must confess I’m not knowledgeable enough but does make sense if one of them has let go whilst turning a corner ??

I had similar in my D3 when front cv went. It would only move in reverse

many thks for verifying that as to be honest I wasn’t 100% sure of how it would act with a broken CV joint , particularly with regards to the transfer box showing the green low light

one thought was if the transfer box had gone into neutral for some reason but does make a lot more sense u saying that

many thks

the cv when broke, gives a gearbox speed sensor fault

many thks, with u saying that wonder if the CDL also gets extremely confused,

also reminded me of when my rear half shaft snapped on my old series 3 , but managed to drive home after locking the FWH in and 4WD , steering was terrible driving it like that , lol

The wheel alignment was done at a local tyre place. Unsure whether the angle sensor was reset.

The alignment was done at a local tyre place but im unsure whether theyve reset the steering angle sensor. Interesting point there.

Front prop failed on mine, completely stripped the splines but didn't throw any lights up. Hopefully they can get it to a good indy 🙏

@marjon you might be onto something

Surely the garage would've checked propshafts and cv joints even with it on the ground??

Plus , credit due where credit is due as @marjon :vb-award::vb-award: beat me to it, lol,

I only wondered about a broken CV/ prop after the OP mentioning about a grinding sound with no drive , at first I wondered as the green low transfer box light showing if for some reason the transfer box was in neutral

fingers crossed is a simple fix for the OP and indeed will know more once a garage has had a look at it

When my steering angle sensor went wrong it put the abs on the offside front wheel causing a grinding noise as you can imagine when trying to drive with a brake caliper on.

also so refreshing not to have the crank come into this equation seeing it’s a 4.4

pa, think by next year there will be a few more 4.4 joining the anti ULEZ gang lol

Can the hi/lo switch fail? Or is there a mechanical bit to it that breaks? Hoping it's something daft for op, I'd love to go and plug my icarsoft in and crawl under it but I'm down in Walsall

Could it be simply popped into neutral? Does the hi lo switch do anything? No idea as don't have a disco but just a thought

This was the first reply on the discovery page apparently they can seize.

Think you have to install a fuse to put tbox in neutral, enables towing with wheels on ground for short distance. Could be wrong tho
